Beppu, Kiushu / Japan

Beppu-shi, an important bathing resort with over 3,000 thermal springs and 168 public baths, lies on the Japanese island Kyushu, in the prefecture of Oita. Beppu, located on the coast of a fishing port, was founded on April 1, 1924. The city has only about 135.000 inhabitants, but is visited yearly by almost 12 million people, who can choose among the different hot springs. Some of them are even considered natural egg boilers.
