"Dolos" is a concrete block, which serves as a breakwater. Dolos was designed in 1961 by East London harbor master Eric Merrifield and has since then been used worldwide in ports.
"Latimer's Landing" is an entertainment center on the banks of the Buffalo River. There are bars, shops, restaurants and a view on the berth of yachts.
In the lush gardens of the "Queen's Park" many native plants, mammals and reptiles can be observed.
The "East London Museum" is famous for the prehistoric Coelacanth, a fish species that lived 70 million years ago.
The "town hall" with its marble staircase is a grand building that was built in the Victorian Renaissance style. It has a Victorian hall and a clock tower, which was built to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria.
The "German Settler's Memorial" commemorates on its bronze plaques the history of German immigrants.
In the "Aquarium" you can observe about four hundred species of marine animals.
The relatively small downtown gives a rather cozy character.
