Gaspé, Quebec / Canada

Gaspe signifies in the language of the Micmac-Indians "End of the World". A special highlight is the artist village Saint-Jean-Port Joli, where one can watch how the natives cut wood, make pottery or weave. In Riviere du Loop where the Wolf River flows into the St. Lawrence one can usually marvel at seals (seals in French: loups marine) and, with a bit of luck, also at white Beluga whales. Almost on the top of the peninsula lies the Forillon National Park, a magnificent hiking area. From the cliffs the seals and whales can be observed all through the period between May and October. Boat trips can be undertaken from Cape Bon Ami along the coast.
