Glasgow has a population of about 600,000 people, making it Scotland's largest city. The city is located in the southwest of the country, on the River Clyde, on the west coast of Scotland. Traces of settlement have been proven to date thousands of years back as Clyde always offered a perfect opportunity to fish. The Romans settled the place around 80 AD and built in the year 140 AD the Antonine Wall (whose remains can still be seen here today ) to separate Roman Britain from the Celtic and Pictish Caledonia. In the 12th century Glasgow received city rights. Today the town is a location for the shipbuilding industry.
