Hafnarfjordur (Reykjavik) / Iceland

Hafnarfjörður is a port town of about 25,000 inhabitants in the southwest of Iceland. The first settlements of today's urban area go far back and are already mentioned in the so-called Landnámabók, an ancient writing which systematically lists the Scandinavian settlers who reached Iceland in the years 870-930. Since the Middle Ages, the city was greatly appreciated by the various nations because of its convenient location for trade. Hafnarfjörður is still considered one of the most important centers of elves faith which according to the polls a surprising number of Icelanders adhere to.
