Hannover / Germany

Hannover, located on the Leine and on the Mittelland Canal is the capital of Lower Saxony. With around 515,000 inhabitants, Hanover is also the largest city of the federal state. Evidence of market development at this site date already around the year 950. In 1241 Hannover receives town privileges by Duke Otto I, the child. The landmark of the city is the New Town Hall (1901 - 1913). Interesting is also the Leine Castle (17th century, the seat of the Parliament), the Leine shore with the "Nanas" by Niki de Saint Phalle, the Ballhof Square, the Market Church, the timber market with the Leibniz house (Renaissance), the late-Gothic town hall, the ruin of the Aegidienkirche, the Maschsee, the George Garden and the Eilenriede, which houses the city's zoo. The Herrenhausen Gardens are one of the best preserved baroque gardens in Europe. The main attractions of the city are also connected by the "red thread" in the form of a tour together: a 4.2-km long line painted on the pavement between the tourist office and the railway station square.
