Lerici is a town with about 11,000 inhabitants, located on the eastern side of the Gulf of La Spezia, in the Italian region of Liguria, in the north-east of the country. In 1152 the city was first mentioned under its present name.Lerici developed already in the 19th century and was even mentioned in Dante's Divina Commedia, a very popular tourist resort developed.

Well worth seeing is the imposing castle of Lerici with its pentagonal tower, which was gradually built and expanded in the years 1100-1550. Worth a visit is the parish church of San Francesco of Lerici. Built in the 12th century in its interior can be found a large number of artworks originating from the Genoese school.
