The Fort Cornwallis is today a museum and a visit is worthwhile. To the south of Georgetown is the Kek Lok Si Temple, built in colorful mixed architectural styles. Khoo Kongsi is the house of the Khoo clan. The Church of St. George is also one of the interesting buildings of Georgetown. There is also a botanical garden with rhesus monkeys, a snake temple with poisonous snakes and the Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram with a 33-m-long reclining Buddha.
Of course, the nature of the island is also tempting. There is a small train that goes up to Penang Hill. From the top you have a beautiful view to the mainland.
