Like most Antarctic ports, there are colonies of penguins in Port Lockroy. The waddling companions are here in great numbers. Especially in Port Lockroy there is a whale skeleton, which is very old and must be reassembled every year if it was scattered by the winds everywhere. There is also a small research museum with souvenir shop, in front of which also many of the penguins romp about and one of the few post offices of Antarctica.
