Porto Santo, Madeira / Portugal

The island of Porto Santo is located a few kilometers from the Portuguese island of Madeira. The main town of the island is Vila Baleira, located on a flat sand coast. Here is the small port, where there are important ferry connections to Madeira. Most of the island's inhabitants live in Vila Baleira. The island stands in stark contrast to Madeira: little vegetation, but more fine sandy beach, which offers peace and relaxation and allegedly can cure various diseases. There are two points of interest on the island: the Pico do Facho and the Pico de Ana Ferreira, both with interesting basaltic formations and magnificent views over the barren island.
