In 1822 Scoresbysund was first mapped by the explorer William Scoresby. Shortly thereafter, the area of this largest fjord in the world was populated - no wonder, hunting conditions were excellent because of the wildlife wealth. Along the fjord, until today there have been three settlements: Ittoqqortoormiit, Ittaajimmiit and Uunarteq whose inhabitants all live from hunting.
The Scoresbysund lies on the east coast of Greenland, the coast drops steeply towards the water, an amazing sight follows the next at this fantastic fjord.
