Sept-Îles is a Canadian city, located in Québec, on the north coast of the Saint Lawrence Gulf. Its name ("seven islands") is due to the small archipelago, consisting of seven islands, in the large bay on which it lies. The French navigator, Jacques Cartier, discovered the bay with its islands in 1535. Sept-Îles is home to two Indian reserves, Uashat and Maliotenam.

Worth a visit is,among others, the reconstructed fortress of Sept-Îles. Originally founded in 1661 by the French explorer Louis Joliet, it burnt down completely in 1695. Today's new version of the fort is entirely based on archaeological findings. A visit to the Musée Régional de la Côte-Nord is also very interesting. Here, interested people can learn a lot about the history of the region and visit changing exhibitions of regional artists. The collection includes exhibits from archeology, ethnology, fine arts, as well as from the natural sciences. Sept-Îles also offers you the opportunity to meet with the Innu, the local Indians. In one of the reservations or at the Shaputuan Museum you can dive deeply in their history and traditions.
