St. Tropez is actually a small town with about 6,000 inhabitants on the Cote d'Azur, but it is full of myths and expectations. St. Tropez - that reminds of Brigitte Bardot and Gunther Sachs, eccentric artists, expensive yachts and a Mediterranean atmosphere. In reality neither much of the former fishing village, nor much of the classy 50s has been preserved today.

The port is nevertheless worth seeing, because you can often see here a luxury yacht. The town is still an attraction for the rich and especially for the party-joyful youth. Legendary are the beaches of Tahiti and Pampelonne, as well as the citadel with museum and magnificent views and Port-Grimaud, a miniature Venice.
The town itself is overcrowded during the summer months, so the retreat into the surrounding area is worthwhile. During winter, however, one can experience the small town so to speak "unpacked and original", without losing its cosmopolitanism.
