Before the cruise

Embarkation/disembarkation
Your cruise begins with embarkation, usually as of 16.00. Please refer to your travel documents for the exact embarkation time. At check-in, you will receive your cabin key and important information about life on board. Afterwards, you will get to know the crew during a welcome cocktail at the Panorama Bar and will be provided with the obligatory safety information. Your cruise ends with disembarkation, which usually takes place after breakfast.            
Pets
Please note that pets are not allowed aboard the AMADEUS fleet.
Medication
If you need special medication, please remember to bring enough with you. If you need a minibar for your medication, you can request one from reception if it is not already available in your cabin.
Safety
For safety reasons, the cruise line asks all guests to always use the handrails during their stay on board. This applies to all areas of the ship, especially when using the gangway. Please note that not all areas of the ship can always be fully illuminated. This is due, among others, to nautical requirements. Guests are asked to avoid these less well-lit areas, such as the stairs, if they feel unsafe using them.
Insurance
Please check or inform yourself in good time before the end and start of your cruise about sufficient and recommended travel insurance.

During the cruise

Excursion programs
For excursions by bus, a minimum of 20 people per language is required for the tour, and for excursions on foot, the minimum number of participants is 12 people per language.
Onboard account
Additionally used services that are not included in the travel price will be registered to your onboard account. At the end of the cruise you can pay the total amount. This applies to excursion bookings, bar drinks as well as expenses at the restaurant, at the onboard shop or for other services.
Boardshop
At the onboard shop you will find exclusive AMADEUS items, souvenirs, postcards, stamps, accessories and everyday items. Please contact reception for operating hours.            
Language on board
The onboard languages on the ships of the AMADEUS fleet are German and English. Announcements and excursions during your cruise will be made in both languages unless otherwise specified.
Onboard currency
The currency on board is the EURO, but the following currencies are also accepted to settle your onboard account: Swiss Francs (CHF), British Pounds (GBP), US Dollars (USD).
Deck chairs
On the sundeck you will find deck chairs in sufficient quantities, which are available at no cost.
Diet menus
A vegetarian option is always available for all meals aboard the AMADEUS fleet. The kitchen and restaurant staff make every effort to accommodate other dietary requirements or dietary restrictions as far as possible. Understandably, such requests from individual passengers can only be fulfilled if the service for all passengers on board is taken into account. In any case, every passenger is obliged to check the food served as far as possible. The requirement is always that the cruise line has to be informed in good time about food intolerances and dietary restrictions. Without timely information, the passenger has no right to have dietary restrictions taken into account. The right to not allow passengers on board must be reserved if taking dietary restrictions into account would overwhelm the organization on board.
Announcements
The board management will provide you during the cruise with important information about the day program, excursions and stages.
The announcements are usually made in German and English via a loudspeaker system on the sun deck, in the cabins and in the public areas.
Electricity
The power supply on board is 230 Volt / 50 Hertz (European standard). Please note that you need a two-pole adapter for 110 Volt devices. This is also available at the reception.
Bicycles
For active tours on your own, you can rent bicycles (including e-bikes) and helmets on board free of charge. Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring your own bicycles.
Fitness room
If you do not want to give up your activity program while you are on vacation, you can use the fitness room on board free of charge, which is open around the clock and is equipped with high-quality training equipment. For an active start into the day the group morning exercise on the sundeck is suitable.
Currency exchange
In all ports of call outside the EU, a currency exchange in the respective national currency is possible. Exchange offices are usually located in close proximity to the landing piers.
Internet / E-Mail
All ships have a wireless internet / Wi-Fi connection. Please ask the receptionist upon embarkation for the access data; as a guest of Amadeus River Cruises, the use is free of charge for you. Please understand that the connection during the cruise can be weaker. In addition, on board failures may occur if e.g. country borders are crossed.
Dress code
Comfortable casual wear is the right choice both on the water and on land. It is recommended that you bring light clothes that you can wear in layers. The cruise line wants guests to feel completely comfortable; therefore, there is basically no mandatory dress code on board. For dinner and special occasions we recommend an elegant wardrobe.
Air conditioning
Each cabin is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning. Please note that this only works when the doors and windows are closed.
Cruise management
The experienced cruise directors have a very special function on board: they are responsible for the entire cruise process on water and on land and is therefore the first contact person when it comes to programs, excursions and travel information.
Piers
The piers in the respective ports are awarded by the local port authority. Regularly, river boats dock upstream. Sometimes it may happen that they have to stand side by side due to the landing conditions or the high ship volume.
This requires that guests have to cross another ship to get to their own or to the dock. This is a standard method in river navigation and is beyond the control of Amadeus River Cruises.
Please note that pontoons and quay walls may impair visibility when the ship is docked in ports, locks, etc. Please also note that piers can change until shortly before the cruise for various reasons that are not at the discretion of the cruise line.
Elevator
There is a guest elevator aboard all ships that runs between the Mozart, Strauss and Haydn decks. The sun deck cannot be reached by elevator.
Mahlzeiten
Full board meals take place in a single session, i.e. all passengers eat together. The exact times can be found in the daily program. The tables are distributed by the restaurant manager.
Massage room
Treat yourself to a relaxing massage from the trained wellness staff. Please contact reception for more information. Reservations cannot be made before your cruise.      
Mail and stamps
Postcards and stamps are available at the board shop and can alternatively be bought on shore excursions. You are welcome to hand in your mail at the reception desk, which will always be sent at the next port of call.
Smoking
For safety reasons and in accordance with common international customs, smoking is not allowed on board throughout the entire inside area
including the cabins; it is only permitted on the sundeck and in specially designated areas. The cruise line asks smoking guests to consider non-smokers.
Safe
It is advisable to deposit valuables, cash and checks safely during your entire cruise. In your cabin you will find a free safe for this purpose.
Daily program
The route of your cruise is already determined in advance and should not change normally. In exceptional cases, however, slight program changes may occur; please refer for the exact daily schedule including mealtimes, excursion times and destination information to the respective daily program on board or contact your cruise line.
Telephone
All cabins have a direct dial telephone with GSM system. Outgoing telephone calls will be charged to your onboard account.
Gratuities
Gratuities for the crew and local guides are not included in the price. The amount of gratuity is up to you. As a guideline
the cruise line recommends 8 - 10 Euro per person / day.
Drinking water
As a guest of Amadeus river cruises, the cabin water, which is replenished daily, is included in the cruise price. In addition, you can always access the water at the 24-hour coffee/tea station.
TV-programm
All cabins are equipped with a TV. Please note that reception is via satellite and that there may be minor disturbances or interruptions, especially during lock times and on certain sections of the route.
Entertainment program
Depending on the chosen route and theme, you will be able to enjoy various lectures, shows, cooking demonstrations and music programs on board. Please refer to the daily program for the exact program items and their respective start times.
Laundry room
The onboard laundry gladly accepts the washing and ironing your personal clothes for a fee. On board, however, there is no dry cleaning facility.
Means of payment on board
You can conveniently pay cash, Maestro  debit card and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club and American Express). There are no ATMs on the ship and often only a limited number in smaller towns.

Documents and papers

Travel documents
The cruises usually take place in the EU area. For your own safety, the cruise line requests that you always carry valid travel documents (passport or personal ID card) with you on your cruise as country borders are crossed during the cruise. These are, in order to ensure a smooth customs clearance, delivered upon embarkation at the front desk and kept safe there.
Travel itinerary
You were informed about the planned itinerary before your arrival. Although every effort is made to complete the itinerary as planned, the cruise line reserves the right to make changes and additions as necessary to ensure the safety of all guests and vessels. In exceptional cases, such as high or low tide, it may be necessary to adjust the travel program in sections or to cover part of the cruise by  bus.
The decision as to whether such adjustments are necessary lies with the captain, who will inform you in due time about all changes.
