MY Solaris

Captain Ante Vuković – 36 years young and already an old sea dog! At just 26 years old, he was the youngest first officer in Croatia's history and in winter he still steers a nearly 350-m-long tanker across the world's oceans. In 2013 he bought the MS Mirabela from his uncle Silvio, who now sails for us with the MY Vita. In the summer of 2017 he handed the Mirabela over to his younger brother Luka. Meanwhile, in the autumn of 2016, Ante began building a completely new ship, the 44-m -long and luxurious motor yacht Solaris. Ante set sail with his new ship just in time for the start of the 2018 season. It is not only one of the longest ships in the fleet, but also one of the most comfortable, with plenty of space for every single guest. The furnishing of the salon and cabins was mainly done by his wife Annamarija, who as a make-up artist has a great eye for even the smallest details. She is often on board in person to pull the strings in the background and make sure that everything is just right when it comes to the well-being of her guests.

Before the cruise

Disembarkation
Disembarkation generally takes place on the last day until 09:00.The crew needs the time between disembarkation and embarkation to make the cabins as clean and tidy as they were when you moved into them a week or two earlier.

■ Poreč
At the end of the cruise, the service team will take you and your luggage to the parking lot on Saturday morning.

■ Rijeka
At the end of the cruise, you can take your car from the garage on Friday evening and park it in the immediate vicinity of your ship in the port during the last night on board.
This gives you the opportunity to stow any luggage you don't need in your car the evening before departure. This also makes disembarkation on Saturday morning quieter and quicker. You will not incur any additional parking fees in the port, as these are already included in the weekly price for the garage.

■ Zadar
At the end of the cruise, you can take your car from the garage in the port on Saturday morning, load your luggage and start your ride home.

■ Trogir
At the end of the cruise, our service team will take your luggage to the parking lot on Saturday morning, which you can reach within walking distance from the port.

If you arrive late, our team on site will inform you of the next possible embarkation port or organize your transfer to the first overnight port, which is to be paid for on site. Any inclusive services missed or not used due to a possible later embarkation, such as the lunch snack, city tours or cycling stages, cannot be refunded. When chartering ships, you can decide the time of embarkation and departure from the port yourself. The time frame is the earliest embarkation from the times stated under "Cabin bookings" and disembarkation until 09:00 on the last day.

Luggage storage
If you combine your cruise with a hotel stay, you may not want to take all your luggage with you on the ship. In Rijeka, you can leave your luggage in the luggage storage area at the bus station (approx. 1,700 m from the ships). In the ports of Zadar and Trogir, the tour guide will provide you with similar options. The cost of luggage storage is to be paid locally.
Minimum number of participants
The cruises are subject to a minimum number of participants that is required for thecruise to take place. This minimum number of participants is specified in the price chart for each ship. If it becomes apparent that the specified minimum number of participants for the cruise to take place will not be reached for a ship, you will be informed about it at least 30 days before the start of the cruise. Of course, you will also be offered a replacement ship and, if available, an alternative route at no extra cost.
Parking in the port
Guarded parking spaces are available in all embarkation ports, which must be reserved at the same time as the cruise and are shown on the travel confirmation/invoice. The parking fee is €70 per car per week in all ports and is to be paid with the cruise price.
Reserving and paying for a parking space on site is no longer possible as of 2023.
The cruise line also provides parking spaces for mobile homes, cars with trailers and coaches, etc. - as the prices for these vary, please send a corresponding request to the cruise line stating the length and height of the vehicle.

■ Rijeka
Drive your vehicle to the front of your ship and unload your luggage. The service team will then guide you to the underground car park and bring you back to the port.

■ Zadar
Drive your vehicle to the front of your ship and unload your luggage.
The service team will explain the short route to the underground car park. Park your vehicle here and walk back to the port.

■ Trogir
Drive your vehicle directly to the parking lot reception.
Unload your luggage here, which the service team will bring to the ship. You will then reach the port in around ten minutes on foot. It is not possible to drive your vehicle into the port.

The parking lot and parking lot reception will probably no longer be in the same location ab 2024. Please note the information in your travel documents.

People with reduced mobility
The cruises are not suitable for people with limited mobility due to the design of the ships. Even if some ships appear to be suitable for people who do not need a wheelchair, it should be remembered that several ships usually have to be moored next to each other in the ports. Due to the different deck heights of the individual ships, there is an increased risk of accidents when moving from ship to ship. In addition, some ships cannot be passed "at ground level" without having to climb stairs. None of the ships are wheelchair accessible in terms of steps, door widths and cabins including the bathrooms.
Tour guide
In the ports, you will be assisted by the Riva service team when embarking and disembarking. The employees are available as contact persons in the port on the day of embarkation and disembarkation (take you to the parking lot, questions about the location of the ships, etc.). A short welcome conversation takes place on board. The standard routes such as R1, Z2, T1, T3, etc. are unguided routes, i.e. there is no tour guide on board during the cruise. Any city tours or excursions according to the route descriptions are carried out by local tour guides. The active cruises such as island hopping by bike, hiking cruises or "Active & Cappuccino" are guided routes, i.e. there are tour guides on board throughout the cruise who act as cycling or hiking tour guides. The city tours mentioned in the route descriptions and services are carried out by local licensed tour guides (German- and English- speaking).
Ships of the fleet
The ships can be divided into three types: motor sailers with a classic wooden construction, motor sailers with a steel hull and motor yachts with a steel hull. Even if it is said that "only wooden ships have a soul", ships with a steel hull also have their flair, because wood is still used for the interior. The ships differ in terms of size, equipment and comfort - please note the respective descriptions and the "Technical data" overview. All information and details are based on the status at the time of printing - it is possible that structural changes are made during the annual winter overhaul, which can change the appearance of a ship. Every now and then it happens that a captain decides to sell his ship or buys a new ship himself during the winter. It is therefore possible that a ship is sailed by a different captain and crew than those described in the advertisement. Some crew members also change ships from season to season. Some of the wooden ships in our fleet are more than 100 years old - which means that only the name and the shape of the hull are really that old. As part of the reconstruction and overhaul, all the frames and planks, nails and screws were replaced over time. However, all the ships have one thing in common: they are not to be confused with the large cruise ships - you live on board without any major formalities in a sociable atmosphere.
Gratuities recommendation
You are gladly welcome to reward the service crew for their efforts with a gratuity. A minimum amount of €10,- per cabin per day is recommended.
   
Insurances
The cruise line recommends taking out travel cancellation insurance or the "I.D. Riva travel protection package" in cooperation with the ERGO travel insurance, which also includes travel health and emergency assistance insurance.

During the cruise

Fishing
The Croatian Adriatic Sea, rich in fish, is an ideal fishing area. Of course, you can bring your fishing gear with you to catch fish from the boat or from land. You will need a fishing permit, which is issued by many local travel agencies for a fee.
Drinks
The salon is a restaurant, lounge and bar all in one, and you can always get cold drinks here - with or without alcohol. Drinks consumption is usually entered into a "tally sheet" - and you pay at the end of the cruise. Of course, drinks on board are more expensive than in the supermarket, but after all, you are in a small "floating" guesthouse. The prices of drinks are usually lower than those in hotels, however, and are more comparable to guesthouses and cafes. Prices vary from ship to ship. You are not allowed to bring your own drinks on board.
Pets
Pets are not allowed on the ships.
Cabins
The cabin size varies from ship to ship and from cabin to cabin. On ships with simple furnishings or small ships, the cabin size is on average around 3-6 m2, on ships with upscale furnishings or larger ships around 7-10 m2 and on ships in the deluxe category around 12 m2.
The cabins on the smaller ships offer space to sleep in and to stow your duffel bag or travel bag. They are usually functionally equipped and, in addition to the beds, have a small wardrobe and/or an open shelf.
On ships with upscale furnishings, the cabins also have storage space under the beds, additional storage space, 220-volt sockets and reading lamps above the beds. On some ships, the beds are arranged one above the other (bunk beds, usually without a ladder), on ships with upscale furnishings, the cabins have French beds or single beds at ground level. Triple cabins usually have a French bed, while the third bed is above or next to it. The type and arrangement of the beds can be found in the descriptions of the individual ships. On all ships, the cabins have a shower/toilet with a washbasin. Some of these are wet rooms that are separated from the cabin area by a door, but especially on the wooden ships, they do not have a shower tray, shower cubicle or curtain.
The shower water then runs off through a simple drain in the floor. On modern new steel ships, the bathrooms usually have shower cubicles or curtains. A look at the "Technical data" table gives you a general overview based on the ship's length and width and the number of cabins. Cabins below deck have a ventilation shaft and/or a porthole. Most ships have cabins both below and on deck, and the ship descriptions also distinguish between the main and upper deck.
When booking, you can choose between cabins on the lower deck, main deck or upper deck, depending on availability, which will be confirmed with the travel confirmation/invoice. Accommodation requests for specific cabin numbers will be forwarded by the shipping company to the captains and taken into account where possible, but will not be confirmed and therefore not part of the travel contract. The allocation of cabins is generally based on the order in which the booking is received, taking into account the type of cabin booked.
The beds will be freshly made upon your arrival, and towels are also provided on all ships (two towels per person per week). Shower and bath towels are not provided and must be brought by the guests themselves. Since the crew does not enter the cabins during the cruise (except on our deluxe ships), it is the guests' responsibility to keep them in the desired order themselves. The shower and toilet in the cabins are also not cleaned by the onboard staff during the cruise. However, shared showers and toilets are cleaned daily during the cruise.
On the ships in the deluxe category, the cabins are cleaned daily and towels are changed if necessary. Cabin cleaning usually takes place between 08:00 and 13:30.
If you do not want your cabin cleaned, simply let the crew know the evening before.
The number of cabins stated in the descriptions refers exclusively to passenger cabins. The crew generally has their own cabins available, which are not listed in the descriptions.
Children on board
A cruise is certainly an experience for children too. Due to the special conditions aboard a ship, however, it is only recommended for school-age children who can also swim. Children in particular discover something new on board every day, such as the many switches and levers at the helm, raising the sails or dropping anchor. The cruise line asks you to exercise caution in view of the potential risk of accidents, as parental supervision also applies on board.
Clothes & luggage
You should leave your evening dress and suit at home - casual holiday clothing such as shorts and T-shirts as well as swimwear are practical. For cooler evenings (especially during the off-season) a sweater or sweatshirt is recommended, and a rain jacket can also be useful every now and then. Since the storage space in the cabins on the wooden ships is usually not too generous, you should forego suitcases (especially bulky shell cases are completely out of place here) and instead bring a duffel bag or travel bag. On the modern steel ships, suitcases can also be stowed under the beds.Even if the ships are guarded by at least one crew member, you should leave unneeded valuables at home, as no liability can be assumed in the event of theft.
Air conditioning
All ships - with the exception of MS Zelenbor and MS Pravedan, which have an open saloon - have air conditioning in the saloon, and the majority of ships (except those in the "Comfort" category) also have air conditioning in the cabins (with individual control). On ships without air conditioning in the cabins, there is an air conditioning system in the cabin corridor below deck. With air conditioning in the cabin corridor, there is of course a cooling effect in the cabins only if you leave the cabin door open. In principle, air conditioning only works when the ship's engine or generator is running or the ship is connected to the power grid on land. When staying overnight in secluded bays or small fishing villages without a power connection, air conditioning is usually switched off, because it is not possible to leave the engine or generator running, especially with regard to the night's rest. In some ports, the power supply is too weak or there are too few power connections available to supply several ships, including the air conditioning, at the same time.
Music & atmosphere
Music and atmosphere are not uncommon on board - the festivals are often celebrated as they come. Anyone who owns a musical instrument such as a guitar or harmonica should bring it along.
   
Night rest
It usually gets quieter on board as of 23.00 This is of course not a rigid rule, but rather depends on the composition of the "holiday crew" - on some ships the party goes on for longer. As the ships are thinly soundproof due to their design and in many ports several ships may be moored next to each other due to space constraints, mutual consideration is advisable. Overnight stays usually take place in the ports of larger towns (see route descriptions). As the port is also the lifeblood of every town and on summer evenings life in Mediterranean countries takes place outdoors (restaurants, cafes, bars, terraces), it is usually livelier here in the evenings and at night. In July and August in particular, the traditional annual folk festivals are celebrated in most coastal towns, which often last until the early morning hours. As the organizer, I.D. Riva Tours has no influence on any noise or loud music in the individual ports.
Not included
Tourist tax and port fees are not included in the price. The total amount of €42 per week and person (€21 for children up to 11.99 years) is to be paid on board upon boarding. Entry fees to museums and national or natural parks etc. are not included in the cruise price and are to be paid on site unless they are stated as included in the route description under "Services". When chartering a ship, the services listed in the route descriptions, such as city tours or entry fees to national parks, are not included and are to be paid on site.
Smoking on board
Smoking is not permitted in the cabins or saloon, but is permitted on deck on all ships. Please note that cigarette butts (especially filter cigarette butts - it takes about 4-5 years for the filters to decompose in the sea) must not be thrown into the sea and please use the ashtrays provided on all ships. The danger of flying ash and embers should not be underestimated, especially when sailing.
Ship planks
A cruise on one of the ships is certainly a unique experience. However, you should also be aware that ship planks have their pitfalls: Stairs are narrower and steeper than you are used to at home, after a downpour or morning dew, the deck can become slippery and there are many "tripping hazards" lurking on board. As wood is a living material and contracts easily in high summer temperatures, it can happen that some water gets into the cabins of wooden ships in rain or bad weather. In any case, you should make sure to carefully close portholes (especially on the lower deck) or windows in your cabin in bad weather or generally during the cruise. As it can get tight in many ports, especially in high season, several ships are often moored next to each other. The cruise line therefore asks you to be particularly careful when boarding or disembarking across other ships, especially with regard to the different deck heights of the individual ships. This is especially true after drinking alcohol, as no liability is accepted for accidents. You should also be particularly careful if you anchor in a bay and jump from the boat into the refreshing water with a "daring leap". On the one hand, you should be careful not to injure yourself when jumping, and on the other hand, there is an increased risk of slipping on deck due to guests climbing out of the water.
Sleeping on deck
Many guests find it a unique experience to spend the night in the fresh air under the Mediterranean starry sky. There is of course enough space for this on deck, but you should bring a sleeping bag and a foam mat or air mattress, as mattresses and bedding from the cabins are not allowed on deck.
Footwear
Suitable footwear on board is light and comfortable shoes such as textile sports shoes (Converse, Vans), flip-flops or Crocs. Wearing high heels (pumps, high heels) or wooden clogs on board is not permitted for safety and consideration reasons.
Sailing
The ships generally sail the routes using their motors. Although the conditions for this vary from ship to ship depending on the design, on some ships the sails are raised once a week, provided the weather and the deck structures allow it. Of course, this only applies to ships that are designed as motor sailers and also have sails.
Electricity and water
Electricity and water are of course available on board, but not unlimited. All ships have 220-volt generators, which are of course not in constant operation - also with regard to the night's rest. The same applies when anchoring in bays, as it would certainly not be pleasant if sunbathing on deck was constantly "accompanied" by engine or generator noise. The cruise line asks that you pay particular attention when using powerful electrical devices such as hair dryers. If several hair dryers are used at the same time, the onboard power supply can be overloaded, especially on older ships, and the fuses will interrupt the power supply. The water tanks are designed according to the number of cabins or berths so that there is enough water for washing and showering, even if it is not possible to refill for several days. However, this requires that all passengers use the precious water sensibly. The ships usually have a central hot water supply for the showers.
Environmental protection
In the interest of environmental protection – which has long been enshrined in the Croatian constitution – you are requested not to throw any waste into the sea or into the toilets, including cigarette butts. All ships have sufficient waste containers available to ensure environmentally friendly disposal. Help actively to keep the Adriatic – the "bluest" of all seas – clean.
Meals
The catering corresponds to southern standards. Breakfast is usually simple, with coffee and tea, white bread, butter and jam. Cold cuts, cheese, eggs or yoghurt are also often served. The main meals (lunch and/or dinner) usually consist of soup or a starter, meat or fish with side dishes and salad, and dessert or fruit. Even though they are sea voyages and fish is certainly often served, meat is mostly served. Upon request, simple vegetarian and vegan meals are also offered on all ships - however, the cruise line asks you to state this upon booking. The preparation of special meals - e.g. for gluten or lactose intolerance - is not always possible and must in any case be discussed with the cruise line before booking. When chartering, you can choose between half or full board. The meals on the advertised routes are mostly half board - it basically consists of breakfast and lunch. On the bicycle cruises, depending on the program, dinner is served instead of lunch on some days. On the day of arrival there is a snack after embarkation and dinner, as well as a "Captain's Dinner" once per cruise. On the other days, dinner can be eaten in restaurants on land. From time to time the captain will also offer you dinner on board (e.g. when staying overnight in bays), this is then to be paid for separately on board (approx. €25 to €30 per meal and person, depending on the order and choice of food). The last meal is breakfast on the day of disembarkation. Full board (only on the routes RF, ZF, TF and ZW) consists of breakfast, lunch and dinner, the services begin with the snack on the day of embarkation and end with breakfast on the day of disembarkation. The meals on the bicycle cruises are half board and consist of breakfast and lunch or dinner on board, and a snack is also served after embarkation. Sometimes lunch is eaten at restaurants or traditional local taverns along the way - it is not included in the travel price and is paid for directly by the participants. Depending on the route and location, lunch is taken on board, while in the evening you have individual choice of where you will stay overnight. The cruise line has adapted the catering on the bicycle cruises to the special needs of cyclists. In addition to the usual coffee or tea, white bread, butter and jam, sausage, cheese, cornflakes, muesli, fruit, juices and dairy products such as yoghurt are served for breakfast. The catering on the ZW hiking cruise from Zadar is full board, lunch is served either on board or in the form of lunch boxes during the hike.
WiFi-Internet
WiFi internet is available on all ships, so you don't have to give up internet on your own notebook, tablet or smartphone during the cruise. However, this does not mean that the internet connection is available around the clock. While there is network coverage according to LTE standard in almost all ports and also at sea near larger islands or the mainland, near sparsely populated islands or in secluded bays often only an EDGE standard signal or no signal at all can be received.
In addition, the WiFi signal may not be received on the entire ship for technical reasons, but only in the salon or on the aft deck behind it, for example. On some ships, WiFi internet is only available when the engine or generator is running or the ship is connected to the power grid on land.

“Roam like at home” – roaming at domestic prices Thanks to the EU rules on “roaming at domestic prices”, which came into force on June 13, 2017, you do not have to pay additional roaming charges for using your mobile phone in other EU countries when travelling outside your home country. When roaming at domestic prices, there are no volume restrictions for calls and SMS, but there are rules and limits for internet use at domestic prices depending on your contract.

Tourist tax, port fees, drinks and any extra services on board are to be paid in Euros (EUR). Credit, EC and debit cards are not accepted.
