Edge

Celebrity Edge® represents a turning point in the approach to ship design. From the very first sketches to the moment these designs could be experienced in a virtual reality environment, every step was done in 3-D. From the incredible new Magic Carpet® to the exclusive plunge pools in the new two-story Edge Villas, they were able to design the most elegant ship at sea.
The unique, outward-facing design deviates from traditional ship design. On board, you will feel even more connected to the sea and the places you visit in several areas. Be it the Edge staterooms with Infinite Verandas® or the newly designed, terraced pool deck, which give you even better views of the destinations and the shimmering ocean.

Before the cruise

Are minors allowed to go on a cruise without an adult accompanying them?
Minors up to 17 years of age who are not traveling with their parents require a power of attorney for the accompanying person signed by a notary (in English). Please note that parents/guardians traveling with a child who has a different surname than the parents/guardian must provide official documentation such as a birth certificate, divorce papers, etc to prove that they are the parent or legal guardian of the child in question.
Is there an age limit?
Persons under the age of 21 may not cruise or occupy a cabin alone unless accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 21 years of age. Proof of age may be required. This age restriction does not apply to anyone under 21 years of age traveling with a parent or guardian and occupying an adjacent or connecting cabin. Married couples aged 18 and over are exempt from this. A marriage certificate must be presented upon booking and embarkation.

Please note: The age upon departure determines status for the entire duration of the cruise. Small children are only allowed to take part in a cruise if they are at least six months old at the start of the cruise. For a cruise that includes three or more consecutive days at sea, infants must be at least 12 months old at the start of the cruise. Rejecting children who do not meet this minimum age at check-in may result in the accompanying person(s) being rejected. In this case there will be no refund or compensation from the cruise line.

Please note that parents/guardians traveling with a child who has a different surname than the parents/guardian must provide official documentation such as a birth certificate, divorce papers, etc to prove that they are the parent or legal guardian of the child in question.

Can I call home from the ship?
You can call the mainland from the ship 24 hours a day from your cabin. The fees will be automatically charged to your account.
Can guests bring drones aboard a Celebrity Cruises cruise ship?
Yes. Guests can take drones on their cruise, but only use them on land and outside of port areas. However, drones may not be operated aboard ships or at the following Celebrity Cruises private destinations: Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas and Labadee, Haiti.

On board, drones must be safely stored in the cabin. Drones operated on the ship will be confiscated until the end of the cruise. When operating drones on board, a warning will be issued in accordance with the Guest Code of Conduct and guests may be disembarked at their own expense.
Guests assume full responsibility for familiarizing themselves with all local government regulations regarding the use of drones and obtaining any necessary permits to operate drones. Depending on the country, the rules may differ. Any liability, including for environmental damage caused by the use of drones, is the responsibility of the guest.Celebrity Cruises accepts no liability for guest drones confiscated by local authorities for violating local laws, nor for any accident or injury resulting from drone flights by guests.
Do we speak your language?
Please note that the general language on board is English. Celebrity Cruises is an international cruise line with an equally international crew. However, it cannot be guaranteed that native speakers of certain nationalities will be on board.
When are shore excursions booked and paid for?
The staff at the "Shore Excursions Desk" or "Guest Relations Desk" will gladly inform you about the shore excursions and book the excursions for you. The cost will be charged to your onboard account. Please note that some shore excursions only take place with a minimum number of participants. Diving excursions are only open to customers who can present a valid diving license. This must be done no later than 11 days before the start of the cruise. You can also book shore excursions on board.
However, as the number of participants is limited in most cases, we recommend that you register in advance to avoid disappointment. Of course you are free to go on excursions on your own. Please pay particular attention to the visa regulations of the individual countries.
What is a rescue drill (Muster drill”)?
A rescue drill (“Pattern Drill”) is a mandatory drill designed to familiarize all guests and crew members with the assembly points (“Sample Stations”) to be used in the event of an emergency. During the exercise, further safety-related information (e.g. about putting on life jackets) is conveyed.

When are rescue exercises (“Pattern Drill”) carried out for guests?

The guidelines of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (“International Convention of Safety of Life at Sea” – SOLAS for short) stipulate that a rescue exercise (“Pattern Drill”) be carried out within 24 hours after a ship’s departure from the port of departure. However, this exercise is held on all ships in the fleet before the ships leave port on the first day of the voyage.

In which languages is the rescue exercise (“Pattern Drill”) carried out?
Announcements requesting that you arrive for the rescue exercise (“Pattern Drill”) are made in English or the official language of the ship. The announcements will also be made in additional main languages if there are a larger number of guests on board who do not speak English. On some cruises, announcements may be made in the language of the main market, followed by English and other main languages.

What kind of clothes should I take?
Choosing your clothes is not a problem if you think of three kinds of clothes when packing: casual holiday clothes for the day, smart casual clothes for sightseeing tours or shopping sprees and evening wear. How many nights you should bring casual, smart or elegant evening wear depends on the respective cruise.
Here are some general tips: flat, comfortable shoes are recommended for the stay on board, as well as enough bathing suits so that you always have something dry with you. On land you will also need comfortable walking shoes and a hat to protect you from the sun. When visiting museums, mosques, temples and churches, covered clothing is appropriate and often even essential. Ladies should wear skirts or pants that cover the knees; sleeveless tops and shorts are not permitted.

On a 7-night standard cruise there are two fancy evenings (maximum 3 on longer cruises), one more informal evening and four casual evenings.

Recommended evening wear:

Casual evenings – a casual combination of shirt and pants for men, a suit of pants and top or skirt and blouse for women.
Informal evenings – ladies should wear a dress or pantsuit, gentlemen a sport jacket or blazer.
NEW: Chic evenings - cocktail dress for the lady, skirt, trousers or designer jeans with an elegant top. Cloth trousers or designer jeans with a shirt, button-down shirt or sweater, sports jacket or blazer for men.

Note:
T-shirts, swimsuits, coats, shirts with straps, baseball caps or bare feet are not permitted at the main restaurant or specialty restaurant. The use of shorts or flip-flops is not permitted at night.Additionally, guests are asked to adhere to the Smart Casual and Superior dress code for all evening events at the Celebrity Theater.

What are "chic evenings"?

Celebrity Cruises is introducing a new dress code: Chic Evenings. This is intended to replace the festive evenings, i.e.you can dress a little more casually than on the previous festive evenings. Nevertheless, it is considered a more chic form of the smart casual look.

Women can feel comfortable in the following clothes:
Cocktail dress or skirt, trousers or designer jeans with an elegant top Men can feel comfortable wearing the following clothes: cloth trousers or designer jeans with a shirt, a shirt with a tightly buttoned collar or a sweater. Sports jacket/coat or a blazer.
Can I still wear a tuxedo on these evenings?
Yes. Fancy evenings mean you can dress glamorously and as sophisticatedly as you please. If you still want to wear your tuxedo, you are welcome to do so.

Why is Celebrity Cruises making this change?
Celebrity Cruises would like to convey the New Luxury holiday feeling. When it comes to the wardrobe, New Luxury is often more relaxed than formal wardrobe. Accordingly, there will now be a new type of New Luxury evenings aboard Celebrity Cruises. The cruile line doesn't want to tell you to dress festively, but rather to make you feel elegant and sophisticated - in your own style!

When does this change come into effect?
For all cruises departing after December 4, 2015 (Celebrity Xpedition will continue to maintain the casual dress style throughout the cruise).

Can I wear jeans on fancy evenings?
Chic nights are smarter than smart casual, but less formal than party nights. Designer jeans are absolutely acceptable on the fancy evenings.

How many fancy nights are there on which cruises?
All cruises of 7 nights or more will introduce two chic evenings. All cruises of 6 nights or less will introduce a fancy evening. On all other evenings on the cruise you can showe up in a smart casual look.

Will the special features of the festive evenings also be affected (Captain's Table, lobster on the menu, photos, etc.)?
The cruise line
will continue to offer lobster on the menu on fancy evenings. The cruise line is also planning a New Luxury Twist based on the festive evenings, including a new Captain's Reception with destination-inspired cocktails and photo/portrait opportunities etc.

Do men have to wear a jacket on fancy eveninga? No, jackets are optional on fancy evenings.

What are the rules for travelers checks and other currencies?
US dollars and travelers checks are accepted in most ports. The following currencies and checks are accepted and exchanged at Guest Relations and Purser's Desk: Traveller's Cheques, Sterling, Large Dollar Bills, Canadian Dollars and Euros. (In Asia, there is no facility to exchange Asian currencies on board.)
What travel documents do I need?
You will need all travel documents provided by your travel agent, a valid passport and all visas required to enter the countries your ship calls at on your cruise. You will not be able to check in without the appropriate travel documents and travel documents.
Please note: You can get more information about the necessary travel documents from your travel agency.
Since October 1, 2003, German citizens only need the red EU passport to enter the USA and San Juan. This also applies to children, regardless of their age. Green passports and children's ID cards are no longer accepted by US immigration authorities. An electronic passport (e-passport) is required for entry under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA). You can recognize this by a photo symbol at the bottom edge of the passport cover. If your passport is not an e-passport, you must apply for a visa (consulate, visa services, etc.).
Will I get seasick?
That is rather unlikely. The ships are equipped with stabilizers that greatly limit the pitching and rolling of the ship. If you are still sensitive to the ship's movements, the cruise line will give you free seasickness tablets.
How do I pay for the services I use?
With the Boarding Pass: Signature Account Card from Celebrity Cruises or Sea Pass from Royal Caribbean International offer you a convenient way to pay for all of your onboard services and shore excursions. Services paid for with the boarding pass will be charged to your account in U.S. dollars. To open a Signature Account/Sea Pass account, all you need is your traveler's checks, your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Diners Club International credit card along with the Signature Account/Sea Pass account and cruise ticket contract form which you will find in your travel documents.Everything else will be taken care of for you. A detailed bank statement will be delivered to your cabin on the final morning of your cruise.Cash is accepted in the casino, for gratuities and when exchanging money.
How do I reach the ship?
Normally, the ride from the airport to the pier is very short, and in no time at all you will be checked in and ready to begin your cruise. The arrival also depends on the package you have booked. Before departure, verify which travel package you have chosen.

Can I park my car at the cruise terminal?
Yes. If you arrive by car, you can leave it in the car park near the cruise terminal. The amount of the parking fee depends on the number of days.

Occupation of the cabin
After you have checked in, you can occupy your cabin. From now on it's time for pure relaxation and enjoyment.
How can I get a copy of my SeaPass account status?
The cruise line will be happy to give you a copy of your SeaPass account statement. Please wait at least 3 business days after the end of the cruise and contact the cruise line via email to receive the requested information.Additionally, as part of the SeaPass system, there may be pending authorizations of funds on your credit or debit card during the cruise, pending verification due to balance availability. This usually happens within 3 to 5 days. However, if these authorizations cause you inconvenience, do not hesitate to contact the cruise line by email for advice on how to eliminate them.
How do I behave when I'm sick?
Each of the ships has a doctor on board. The medical facilities are open daily and are available at any time in case of emergencies. Please note that certain medical services incur costs.

During the cruise

Can I smoke on board?
Smoking is not permitted in the cabins or on the balconies of the balcony cabins and suites. For the comfort of guests, smoking is prohibited in most areas on board. However, we offer smokers the opportunity to smoke in the various designated outdoor areas on board. Depending on the ship, these smoking zones are located on different decks and open-air bars. Failure to comply may result in a cleaning fee of US $250,- charged to the guest's onboard account.

On cruises departing from US ports, passengers must be at least 21 years of age to purchase, possess, or use tobacco. In other international ports, local laws regarding the purchase, possession and use of tobacco apply throughout the voyage. .

Travel documents:
For this cruise German citizens need a machine-readable passport that is still valid for 6 months more at the end of the cruise
Children need their own identification document. Children passports, passports and - depending on the destination - identity cards are available as travel documents for children. Citizens of other countries are asked to  inquire at their consulate. Please note that the travel documents may change at any time.
German citizens can find the exact entry requirements at www.auswaertiges-amt.de.
German citizens need an electronic visa  or an ETA to enter Australia. The application must be made before the start of the cruise and cannot be made upon entry.

eVisitor
The eVisitor visa (subclass 651) is offered to business travelers and tourists from Germany and other EU member states.
The visa is valid for 12 months and entitles you to as many stays in Australia as you like within this one year, each for a maximum of three months. It can be applied for online free of charge. Applicants are notified by email that the eVisitor visa has been successfully issued. The eVisitor visa is stored electronically at border crossings and other locations.

Electronic Travel Authority ETA
The Electronic Travel Authority ETA (Subclass 601), which existed before the introduction of the eVisitor visa, can still be applied for; the entry permits are the same as those for the eVisitor visa.
The ETA can be applied for through travel agencies or airlines and costs AUD 20 plus any service provider fees.

German citizens do not need a visa to enter New Zealand if they stay for up to three months as a tourist or business traveler, but must be in possession of a return or onward flight ticket and, if requested by the immigration authorities, be able to provide proof of sufficient funds to finance the stay. You still need an electronic entry permit NZeTA.

Electronic entry permit NZeTA
The electronic entry permit NZeTA can be applied for online or on mobile devices using the NZeTA app and is also required for a stay in the transit area.
The NZeTA application is subject to a fee (NZD 23 for online registration and NZD 17 for registration using a mobile app). In addition, a tourism tax of NZD 35 is required upon registration, which is intended to be used for infrastructure and environmental protection projects for a more sustainable tourism industry. The NZeTA, once issued, is valid for any number of entries for a maximum of 90 days each within a period of two years. The responsible New Zealand Immigration recommends submitting the application at least 72 hours before departure if possible. Subject to change.

Each guest is responsible for complying with the travel documents. If these  are not complied with, embarkation may be denied. All costs incurred due to non-compliance with the travel documents are to be borne entirely by the traveler. It is advisable to take copies of all documents with you and keep them separate from the originals. Citizens of other countries should contact their consulate. Please ensure that your name is spelled correctly and completely as stated in your passport. The names you send back to us with your travel registration are binding; changes may incur high rebooking fees.
