Mekong River Cruises: 2024 to Vietnam & Cambodia

The mighty river reveals the treasures of Vietnam and Cambodia to you in a way that only a river tour can offer. The highlights? Majestic landscapes, vibrant cultures and breathtaking temple complexes. Your journey begins in Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon), the dynamic metropolis in southern Vietnam. Stroll through lively markets, sample local specialties and learn about fascinating history. Aboard the MS Marguerite, the 90 guests can expect upscale luxury and comfort in all areas of the ship. The 46 spacious cabins and suites are the perfect place for an invigorating power nap after an exciting shore leave (many excursions are included in the travel price). Afterwards, relax on the sun deck in the whirlpool or with a massage at the spa salon. After the appetizer you go to the restaurant for dinner. You can enjoy this as well as breakfast, lunch and snacks which are included.

Before the cruise

Board currency
Aboard MS LADY DILETTA, MS LADY CRISTINA, MS SANS SOUCI, MS ROUSSE PRESTIGE, MS ELEGANT LADY the onboard currency is the Euro. On the MS LA MARGUERITE the onboard currency is the Vietnamese Dong. The following credit cards are accepted: Visa and MasterCard (valid for all six ships).      
Guests with reduced mobility
The cruises of Plantours are only conditionally suitable for persons with reduced mobility. Please contact the cruise line for further advice and specification of your needs.
Hygiene and safety concept COVID-19
The current hygiene and safety concept can be found on the Plantours website. It is constantly being adapted to current circumstances and official requirements. In addition, you will be informed in good time before the start of the cruise.
Attire on board
The atmosphere aoard all ships is casual and informal. Therefore, the recommendation is on board during the day and to wear comfortable, sporty clothing and sturdy shoes for shore excursions. The cruise would like to give the gala dinner a more festive setting and is therefore  asking for appropriate wardrobe.        
Shore excursions
During your cruise various optional shore excursions are offered. You will receive the shore program approx. one month before the start of the cruise  Some of the excursions should be booked in advance. Payment is made on board. Exception: On MS La Marguerite, all excursions and sightseeing according to the program are included in the travel price.
Gratuities
Internationally, it is customary to give the staff a gratuity as an expression of satisfaction with the service provided. The amount is of course free for each guest and should be the recognition of a good service.
Insurances
We recommend that you take out travel cancellation, baggage, cruise interruption and international travel health insurance with HanseMerkur covering return transportation and rescue costs.

The minimum number of participants for each cruise is MS LADY DILETTA: 120 people, MS LADY CRISTINA: 125 people, MS SANS SOUCI: 60 people, MS ROUSSE PRESTIGE: 100 people, MS ELEGANT LADY: 100 people, MS LA MARGUERITE: 75 people

During the cruise

Medical care
If you need medical attention, contact the reception or the travel manager of the ship. Here you are recommended a doctor or an ambulance. For fees and billed medications, please ask for a receipt, because most of the costs will be reimbursed by your own insurance / health insurance or travel health insurance.

TV
There are several satellite programs to choose from. Please note that during the cruise depending on the region, only limited reception is possible. Under bridges and in locks, in Russia and on the lower Danube, reception is sometimes not possible.
Internet
MS LADY DILETTA, MS LADY CRISTINA, MS SANS SOUCI, MS ROUSSE PRESTIGE, MS ELEGANT LADY and MS LA MARGUERITE have an internet terminal or WI-FI access; registration takes place at the reception (subject to a fee).
Meals / table times
Meals are served at one seating at the non-smoking restaurants. Please inform us of any allergies or intolerances in advance.
Smoking
Smoking inside the ship is prohibited on all ships. Ashtrays are available on the sundecks. Please note that all cabins are non-smoking cabins. Smoking is not permitted on the balconies of the suites aboard the MS Lady Diletta.
Safe
Each cabin is equipped with a safe for your valuables.
Electricity
The voltage on board is uniformly 220 volts. For safety reasons, the use of electrical appliances, with the exception of razors is not permitted on board. There is a hair dryer in each cabin.

Documents and papers

Deposit
When booking a cruise, a deposit is required. The amount depends on the travel price and is explained in the travel conditions.
Your payment is insured in accordance with the statutory provisions of Swiss Re International SE branch Germany, MesseTurm, 60308 Frankfurt.
Travel documents
German citizens need a valid passport or identity card (update July 2024). All other nationalities please inquire.

The following shore excursions are already included:
- Ho Chi Minh City: anoramic tour and city sightseeing including lunch; stop at Cholon market and visit to a lacquer factory, visit to Van Thanh Mieu Temple (Temple of Literature). This is followed by a traditional Hat Boi show with dancing, singing and storytelling.
- Vinh Long: ride by small boats along a canal lined with impressive brick kilns in Mang Thit district and visit to a factory.
 - Ben Tre: coconut market in Ben Tre District and visit to the Vinh Buu Pagoda
- Cai Be: ride by small local boats to Tan Phong Island, boat ride in front of the Gothic Cai Be Cathedral and meeting with a family
- Sa Dec: city tour of this lively delta city. Then visit to a Caodaist Temple and discover the colorful local market
- ​​Tan Chau: tour by small boat
- Phnom Penh: visit to the Cambodian capital, excursion to the infamous "S 21", the former detention and torture center of the Cambodian civil war.
 - Chong Koh: walk through the silk weaving village, visit to the Vat Phnom Hill
- Angkor Ban: tour of the traditional village
- Siem Reap: tour of the old capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom, with smiling face towers of the Bayon Temple, elephant terrace and city gates; tour of the UNESCO world heritage site Angkor: visit to the Banteay Srei Temple, lunch at a restaurant, visit to Ta Prohm and the Temple of Angkor Wat, the most impressive masterpiece of Khmer architecture

All times are guide times. We reserve the right to make program changes, also due to high or low tide.

Important information:
For this cruise you need a passport that is still valid for 6 months more after the end of the cruise and has at least 4 blank pages. You also need a visa for Cambodia. The visa fees and application (via our visa agency) cost around €120 per person. German citizens do not currently require a visa for Vietnam. Consular fees and regulations can change at short notice. You will receive more information from us in good time before departure. All information applies to German citizens. All other nationalities should contact the relevant embassy. (Update August 2024)
