Assiut has several very interesting mosques, including the remarkable mosque of Galal al-Din al-Asyutiyy and the al-Mujahideen Mosque as well as a number of beautiful churches in the bazaar district el-Qasriyya. Also do not miss to visit one of the numerous caravanserais, for example, the Wikala Schalabi. The building of the as-Slama-secondary school, not far from the Ibrahimiyya Channel houses a museum with Egyptian, Sudanese and Indian exhibits, including some finds of the British Egyptologist William Matthew Flinders Petri (1853-1942). Of interest is also the necropolis of the city, in which graves of various regional leaders can be seen.
