Wijk bij Duurstede / Netherlands

First take a walk through the picturesque old town of Wijk bij Duurstede with its historic houses,its church, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, and the windmill dating from the 19th century. More about the former, declined trading town, you find out at the Museum Dorestad. Also pay a visit to Fort Vechten, which was part of a former fortress and which today includes a restaurant and a ballroom. Stroll then through the park designed in the mid-19th century with the remains of the old castle and take a trip to a small maison de plaisance which teems around the communit district Langbroek.
