Before the cruise

Medical care & seasickness
If you need medical care on board, the staff at the infirmary is available for you 24 hours a day in an emergency, in addition to the regular daily opening hours. All doctors and nurses on Princess ships are licensed and registered in the UK. As independent contractors, they are entitled to offer services at customary rates. The cost of these services, as well as other healthcare expenses, will be charged to your onboard account and provided with an itemized cost plan that you can use to bill your health insurance company. Please refer to your personal health insurance policy for details. Please note that the doctors on board are trained in general medicine. Special treatments such as dental interventions are outside the treatment area. This usually involves a referral to a hospital.

Seasickness
Seasickness has become a rarity today thanks to modern ships equipped with stabilizers. Should you nevertheless suffer from nausea, please contact reception or the onboard doctor.
Barrier-free travels
Princess Cruises also makes traveling as easy as possible for passengers with special needs.Already upon booking, ask for a barrier-free cabin. Wheelchairs must be accommodated in the cabin for safety reasons. If you have problems standing for a long time, we provide wheelchairs for embarkation and disembarkation. On board we recommend bringing your own wheelchair as they are only available for emergencies. Guests with disabilities should travel with a companion who can provide assistance. Princess Cruises employees are not authorized to do so for legal reasons. Please note that some tender ports and excursions as well as some ports of call and piers are not designed for wheelchair users, or that the tender service with wheelchairs may be refused for safety reasons.
Check-In
After specifying your credit card details in the online onboard manifest, Express Check-In can be used in most ports. As a rule, check-in lasting several hours (as of 12:00 at the earliest) is possible in order to avoid waiting times between flight arrival and embarkation. Please arrive at least two hours before departure at check-in.
Entry
German, Austrian and Swiss citizens need a machine-readable passport at the start of the cruise, which is valid until at least 6 months more after the end of the journey. Please note that this applies to all cruises of Princess Cruises (the ID card is also not sufficient within the EU). Children also need their own passport. Please note that you must meet all entry requirements for all ports of call on a journey. Each guest is responsible for compliance with the entry requirements of all ports. Please inform yourself at the respective consulate.
Hand luggage - valuables
Please be sure to carry all travel documents, passports, important medicines, valuables, jewelery and fragile items, electronic devices and cameras, etc. in your hand luggage and keep them in your cabin safe during the cruise. Please note the current regulations of the respective airlines with regard to hand luggage. Large baggage will not be available until some time after embarkation.
Vaccination
Separate regulations may apply to the Covid vaccination.

Credit cards
All major credit cards e.g. Visa, Euro / Master, Amex, Diners are accepted on board. For express check-in and check-out, we recommend that you provide the information in the online board manifest "Cruise Personalizer". The cruise line recommends that you inform your bank about the trip abroad.
Shore excursions
A shore excursion information desk is available aboard each ship. Here you will receive a wide range of information about the region you are visiting and the shore excursions offered, and you can book your desired excursions.
As many shore excursions have a limited number of participants and may already be fully booked on board, advance reservations online via the Cruise Personalizer are advisable. The shore excursions can be viewed in the Cruise Personalizer as of 100 days before the start of the cruise. Shore excursions must be paid for online by credit card within 24 hours. Most excursions can be canceled or rebooked free of charge up to 2 days before the start of the excursion. Offsetting or reimbursement is possible up to 5 days before the start of the excursion. As of 5 days, the excursion price will be credited as onboard credit.
Shore excursions with German-speaking guide are available on selected routes. These are marked with "German" in the Cruise Personalizer. Please note that some shore excursions are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Medication
If you need certain medications on a regular basis, please always take them with you. Checked baggage may not be accessible at all times. In the case of prescription medication, please make sure you have sufficient stocks, as such medication are not always available on board or in the respective ports. Common medication can be bought in small quantities on board at the ship's doctor's office.

Clothing / dress code
You should dress for your cruise as you would dress on land. Casual clothing such as shorts, light trousers on board and on excursions is appropriate in warmer climates.
The cruise line recommends that you take a sweater and jacket with you for cool evenings or short excursions according to your route. Remember that it may rain and that you may need appropriate clothing for visiting religious sites (minimum knee-length, shoulder-covering). A pair of rubber-soled sandals or sneakers are ideal for wearing on deck. All rooms are air-conditioned, some slightly cool; the temperature in the cabins can be regulated individually.
There are two clothing suggestions for the evenings at the à la carte restaurants: sporty chic or elegant.

Sporty chic (smart casual):
Dress as you would do at home when dining out:
- Skirt / dress, long pants and T-shirt / blouse for women
-Long trousers and shirt/polo shirt for men.
No t-shirts, shorts and swimwear at the restaurant

Elegant (formal):
Evening or cocktail dress / trouser suit for women
Tuxedo or suit / combination for men
Princess offers evening wear rentals on all cruises. Please find out more about this at www. cruiselineformal.com

Smoking on board
Most public areas are non-smoking areas. Smoking is allowed in designated areas. Smoking is not permitted in the cabins and onboard balconies. Failure to do so may require a cabin cleaning at your expense. Please do not throw burning objects, cigarettes, etc. overboard!
Safe
All cabins are equipped with a free safe for your valuables.
Pregnancy
Please note that women who have completed the 24th week of pregnancy at the time of the cruise may not take part in the cruise because of the risk of premature labor. All pregnant women are obliged to present a medical certificate that excludes a high-risk pregnancy and certifies the good health of mother and child. This certificate must not be older than 2 weeks before the departure date and must contain the expected date of birth (calculated both from the last menstrual period and from the ultrasound). If the pregnancy was not known at the time of booking, Princess Cruises must be notified immediately upon receipt of the information. When arriving by plane, please also note the travel requirements of your respective airline.
Seasickness
Seasickness has become a rarity today thanks to the large, modern ships equipped with stabilizers. If you still feel nauseous, please contact the reception or the onboard doctor.
Service fees
During your cruise you are excellently cared for by the staff, but you do not see many of the employees involved. However, as it is American practice to provide a service charge to staff, your cabin account will be charged at the suggested average of approximately $ 13.50 per person per night for inside and outside cabins, $ 14.50 for balcony cabins, and $ 15 , 50 per person per night for suites (on Australia departures of the Diamond, Golden, Majestic, Sea & Sun Princess partly in AUD). This amount will be shared among all employees who care about your well-being and can be adjusted or canceled at any time according to your wishes. For beverages there is automatic15% service charge.
Safety
In each port, onboard security personnel, with the support of modern surveillance equipment, enforce strict controls. The state-of-the-art technology of the Princess fleet and first-class training of all crew members ensure safety standards that go far beyond the strict American, British and German regulations.
Sport & Wellness
Lotus Spa & Fitness
Whether you want to take a short break or work on your fitness – the Lotus Spa brings mind and soul back into harmony. Relax in the Thermal Suite (all ships except Royal Class) with hot stone loungers, rainforest shower and exclusive sauna area. "The Enclave" is the name of the wellness area on the Majestic, Royal and Regal Princess and also offers a hydrotherapy pool and various steam chambers.
On many departures, the Thermal Suite or "The Enclave" can only be booked for the entire cruise. Each ship has a modern gym with weights and aerobics equipment, as well as a sauna*, solarium and steam bath. There is a wide range of treatments and applications (for a fee). Of course, beauty treatments for skin and hair should not be missed, as are massages and aromatherapy (for a fee). Secure an appointment for your desired treatment via the Cruise Personalizer.
*) Majestic, Royal, Regal & Sky Princess: for a fee
Daily program
The on board program "Princess Patter" will be placed in the cabin daily and contains all information for the following day. When traveling with German-speaking board assistants, the onboard program is also available in German.
Transfers
The appropriate transfers (airport - port - airport) to your cruise can be booked by the cruise line or your travel agency. In this case, you should definitely send your flight information to your travel agency at least 45 days before your departure. You will then be greeted behind the security area of the destination airport by a staff member of Princess Cruises with a sign.
If you are not using any transfers from Princess Cruises, be sure to schedule enough time for your arrival and departure. Please arrive at the embarkation check-in no later than 2 hours before departure. You should allow two hours for disembarkation. The take-off and landing times of your flight should include enough time.
Gratuities
During your cruise you will be looked after excellently by the staff, many of the employees involved invisibly take care of your well-being in the background. To satisfy all employees, a suggested gratuity of approximately $ 17.00 (up to balcony cabin), $ 18.00 (mini suite) and $ 19.00 (suite) per person per night will be billed to your onboard account (subject to change) . On routes to/from Australia or New Zealand, gratuities will be converted to AUD. The amount of the gratuity is of course left to your personal decision. You may adjust the amount up or down during your cruise and the service provided on board at your discretion.

Documents and papers

Documents, contracts, passport and travel documents
Before you leave from home, you should make sure that you have all the necessary travel documents, such as tickets, passport, visas, vaccination certificates, etc. with you. Without the appropriate documents, you could have problems with entry, embarkation, flights, transfers or excursions. Always carry your identity papers with you or in your hand luggage.
Visa
All travelers are responsible for fulfilling the visa requirements for each port of call during the cruise. For example, you can find out about these at the Foreign Office under Travel & Security. Please note that you must meet all entry requirements for all ports of call on a journey, regardless of whether you are ashore or on board. Important: visas and other entry and residence requirements vary depending on the nationality of the traveler, vary from country to country and may change from time to time without notice. Check with your local consulate to meet all necessary entry requirements for each country and port of the journey. If this were not the case, you would be denied boarding.
Payments
At Princess Cruises you will enjoy onboard cashless payments with your "Cruise Card" or the "Ocean Medallion". With this, all additional costs on board (drinks, trips, boutiques, massages, tips, etc.) are booked on your onboard account. You settle this at the end of the journey with cash, traveler's checks or credit card (see "Credit Card"). For cash and traveler's checks, a security deposit of approximately $ 300 (or AUD) per person is required upon check-in; For credit card payments, the deposit will be reserved in your account.
Due to increased security inquiries by the credit card companies, it is recommended that you inform your bank or credit card company about your intention to go on a cruise.

Gratuities and service charge on board of Princess Cruises
The amount of the gratuity is, of course, entirely your personal decision. Many guests, however, inquire about recommendations. To reward all the crew members who take care of your wellness, a daily rate of approximately $ 17.00 (category inside cabin, outside cabin and balcony cabin), of approximately $ 18.00 (category Mini-Suite and Club Class Mini Suite) and of approximately $ 19.00 (as of category suite) per person and per night is charged to your onboard account.
You can adjust this amount up or down at the reception desk during your cruise fully according to your discretion and the service offered on board.

For all drinks and spa treatments purchased on board, a service charge of 18 % will be added.

Please note that the gratuity recommendation (gratuity regulation) as well the service charge regulation do not automatically become part of the contract, but only after a separate confirmation by the consumer (customer). Therefore, prior to booking the voyage, the consent of the consumer (customer) is requested.
