MS Swiss Ruby - cruise pleasure in a family atmosphere

Check-in/Check-out
Please note that embarkation is always possible as of 15.00. For voyages departing at 16:00 or earlier, embarkation is two hours prior to departure. The exact embarkation time can be found in your travel documents.Disembarkation on the day of departure takes place after breakfast at 09:30 at the latest. Please take this into account when planning your departure. If you need a taxi, please let reception know by the day before departure.
Diet food and food allergies
On all river cruises of VIVA Cruises you are not only offered an extensive breakfast buffet and multi-course gourmet menus, but also individual care for all common food allergies or intolerances. If you have not already announced your dietary requirements before the cruise, please let reception know on the day of arrival so that the kitchen on board can optimally adjust to your needs.
People in need and guests with reduced mobility
In general, the ships are not completely barrier-free and therefore only suitable to a limited extent for guests who are entirelyy dependent on a wheelchair. You will find stairs and narrow doors and corridors. In addition, not all landing piers are designed to be handicapped accessible on river cruises, and entry via the mostly narrow gangways is not always at ground level. Some ships have elevators to make the reception and restaurant easy to reach. However, it should be possible to take some steps without a wheelchair. We generally recommend the booking with an assisting person, as there is no special support staff available on board.
Internationality
VIVA Cruises is a river cruise operator with international guests and onboard staff. For this reason, all information is made available on board in both German and English.    
Clothing
Viva Cruises wants all  guests to feel comfortable on board and have a casual lifestyle on board. This also applies to the wardrobe: the dress code is casual - comfortable during the day and on excursions and sporty-elegant in the evening. Sturdy shoes are generally recommended for shore excursions.    

During the cruise

Doctor
There is no doctor on board as the nearest town can be reached quickly in an emergency. First aid can be provided on all VIVA ships in case of emergency.
Excursions
Guests on board the floating premium hotels are all different. That is why an equally diverse excursion program is developed for each of the fascinating routes. Regardless of whether you are an epicure, a nature lover or an art enthusiast - the selection of experiences will open up new perspectives for you on every cruise. With your travel documents you will receive an overview form with all the excursions offered that match your itinerary.
On board there will also be a daily excursion information event for you, where you can get detailed advice. You can register your desired shore excursions with VIVA Cruises before the start of your cruise. You can also register for the excursions on board, but we cannot guarantee that there will still be enough capacity. Bookings made will be charged to your onboard account.
Bathrobes on board
Bathrobes are provided in all suites. All other passengers can obtain these from reception upon request.
Library and board games on board
There is a selection of international literature and various board games on board.
Language on board
International guests await you on all VIVA Cruises cruises. The onboard languages are German and English.
Announcements
Loudspeaker announcements are made bilingually  in German and English, primarily before shore excursions and for important program highlights on the route.
Bicycles
For reasons of space, bicycles can only be taken on board upon request and not on all ships. Bicycles are provided on some ships, which you can borrow free of charge at reception, subject to availability. The team on board is also glad to help with the rental of bicycles on site.
Fitness and spa (if available on board)
If you don't want to do without your daily sports program on board, you have the option of using the fitness area. Use of the fitness room is free of charge and possible 24 hours a day.You can make an appointment for your massage at reception.
Currency exchange
It is possible to exchange money in the respective national currency in all ports of call outside the EU - exchange offices are usually in the immediate vicinity of the landing site. Unfortunately, it is not possible to exchange money aboard VIVA Cruises.
Hairdryer
There is a hairdryer in all cabins. It's in the bathroom or in one of the drawers near the mirror.
Internet
Wi-Fi is included in the all-inclusive package on all VIVA ships.Please note that there may be restrictions on the use of the internet depending on the travel area.
Air conditioning
All VIVA ships have air conditioners. The air conditioning in your cabin is individually adjustable and can also be used as a heater.When the balcony door is open, the system in the cabin is automatically switched off.      
Minibar
Your cabin is equipped with a mini-bar that is refilled daily. This also has limited space for medication that needs to be refrigerated.
Smoking
For safety reasons, smoking is not permitted anywhere aboard the ship or in the cabins, but only on the outside decks. Please do not throw cigarettes overboard, but use the ashtrays provided. The cruise line asks that you be considerate of non-smokers.            

Restaurant
The cruise line also keeps it casual with the dining times: Viva Cruises offers you absolute flexibility and a high degree of variety for your restaurant visit. Within the framework of the restaurant's opening times, you can go to dinner at any time you wish, i.e. there are no set dining times and you have free choice of seating.  
Reception
During your river cruise, the reception is open for you around the clock and the staff is always at your disposal for all your concerns and requests.  
Life jackets
You will find life jackets in your cabin or at the wheelhouse on the sun deck. You will receive information on this during the rescue exercise on the day of embarkation. Participation in this exercise is mandatory for every guest.
Shop
Would you like a souvenir to remind you of your time on board or a gift for your loved ones back home? At the onboard boutique you can purchase exclusive souvenirs as well as everyday items and souvenirs.    
Sockets/power supply
The sockets on board have a voltage of 220 V.
Daily program
You will find all the important information for the next day in your daily program in the evening, which you can call up on the TV in your cabin. VIVA Cruises cares about the environment. The daily program is therefore only available in digital form.    
Telephone
Each cabin is equipped with a telephone. For a wake-up call, you can always inform the reception the evening before.
Toilets
Please only dispose of toilet paper in the toilet and use the existing disposal options/waste bins for other waste. The ships are equipped with an extremely sensitive system and corresponding water tanks, so this issue deserves special attention.
Drinking bottles
You will find a reusable VIVA Cruises drinking bottle in your cabin, which you can fill up at any time at the water dispenser or at the bar. You can take the bottle home with you after the cruise as a souvenir of your cruise with VIVA Cruises.
Gratuities
The onboard staff is always glad to help you and will ensure you have an unforgettable cruise. At VIVA Cruises you get the all-round carefree package on board, i.e the gratuities is also included in your travel price.  
TV programs
A large number of national and international television channels are received via satellite. Please note that TV and radio reception may be limited while the ship is in motion.
Means of payment
The onboard currency is the euro. Cashless payment: possible with Visa, Mastercard and Maestro. Services used or booked on board that are not included in the VIVA All Inclusive (excursions, fee-based drinks, purchases from the onboard shop, etc.) will be billed to your onboard account at the end of the cruise.

Travel documents
You will receive your travel documents 2 weeks before departure. These include, among other things, a registration form for shore excursions.
Itinerary
You will receive the detailed itinerary with your travel documents. You can also find more information in your daily program. Occasionally there may be short-term schedule changes due to high and low tide or maintenance work on locks.
