Age limit on cruises
Age limit for package tours
The embarkation of unaccompanied children and young people under the age of 18 is not permitted. They may only travel when accompanied by a legal guardian. For travelers not traveling with a legal guardian, the minimum age for a mini cruise to Oslo is 20 years. It is possible to apply for an exemption from the age limit.

Age limits for ferry crossings
The embarkation of unaccompanied children and young people under the age of 16 is not permitted. They may only travel when accompanied by a legal guardian. The embarkation of youth groups whose participants have not reached the age of 18 is also not permitted. Information about our offers and facilities on board especially for children can be found in the information on the respective routes and ships.

Cruises with children under the age of 18
Since June 26, 2012, children entries in the parents' passport are invalid and no longer entitle the child to cross the border. As of this day, all children (from birth) must have their own travel document when traveling abroad. Children passports, passports and identity cards are available as travel documents for children.

IMPORTANT: If children do not travel with their legal guardians, a declaration of consent from the legal guardian must be carried along with a copy of the ID.

Traveling with animals
Any transportation of animals is at the owner's responsibility and risk. Different guidelines apply for the transportation of pets (e.g. dogs, cats and rabbits) and other animals (e.g. horses and cows).

General information
Bringing pets into the public areas or cabins of the ships is not permitted out of consideration for other travelers.
It is recommended to consult a veterinarian well in advance of the cruise to ensure that the necessary requirements for importing and exporting pets are met. It should be noted that all dogs, cats and ferrets must have their own travel documents to/from EU/EEA countries. For more information, contact the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Here you can also find the rules for entry into Norway with a dog or cat.
The air on the car decks is constantly renewed. The temperature of the car decks, on the other hand, is not regulated, so it can be cold in winter and hot in summer. It is the owner's responsibility to assess the dog's well-being and to ensure that it has sufficient air and drinking water during the crossing. Pets are not permitted on the Oslo mini-cruise.
The requirements for taking dogs on foreign cruises have changed since January 1, 2017. It is no longer possible to treat dogs against fox tapeworm in Norway before short cruises.

Travel information
Pets are not permitted in the cabin.
The ship has space for a maximum of 10 dogs, in cages on the car deck (own kennel).
Food and water bowls are available on board.

The dog can stay in the car.

Cats and other pets must stay in the car.

The crossing lasts 20 hours.
Food and poop bags must be brought with you.
The dog can stretch its legs in the kennel during set visiting times.

Only one person per animal during visiting times.
The visiting time is 15 minutes.
The visiting time may not be used to bring luggage or purchases to the car.

The contact person on the car deck is the mate on duty.

The owners are responsible for the dog's droppings on the car deck.

During the cruise

Container for syringes
For guests who need syringes for health reasons (insulin, etc.), Color Line is happy to provide suitable disposal containers. Please contact the reception on board. Thank you for your consideration.
Electrical devices
Apart from the standard appliances in the cabins, it is not permitted to use electrical devices (e.g. kettle, iron) in the cabins or on board. For safety reasons, the power connections on the car deck may not be used for private vehicles.
Electricity
220 volts / AC. German plugs fit into Norwegian sockets.
Elevators
In an emergency situation, all elevators are stopped and can no longer be used. Instead, the stairs must be used. Guests with wheelchair or disability receive special assistance from the crew.
Internet and phone on board
Aboard the ships, guests can make phone calls and go online with their internet-enabled devices.
Wi-Fi
General: A public network is available aboard the ships.
You can purchase access via a secure payment page through the "ColorGuest" network. The service is provided by Telenor Maritime (TM). The Telenor Maritime network transmits your call and data traffic via the ship's satellite connection. The network is opened when the ship is at sea. When the ship sails close to the coast, you may be connected to an operator on land. The prices for wireless internet access may vary or change at short notice. Please refer to the prices displayed in the payment portal on board for current information. The cruise line would like to draw your attention to the fact that the transmission speed on board is limited because the internet access is provided via a satellite connection, which is also used by the ship's system.
Kiel-Oslo / Oslo-Kiel:
Free access for guests of Color Class cabins and Color Suites.
The Wi-Fi network for conference guests, "ColorConference", is also available throughout the ship and is included in the price for conference guests. The access code is issued in the conference department.
Prices:
3 hours = 70 NOK
12 hours = 120 NOK 24 hours = 150 NOK
42 hours = 250 NOK
Hirtshals-Kristiansand/Hirtshals-Larvik:
Advance reservation is recommended so that you do not have to wait in line when purchasing at reception.
Free access in Business Class. Prices:
1 hour = 50 NOK
4 hours = 80 NOK
If you book a seat in Business Class, you have free access to Wi-Fi for the entire crossing (4 hours).
To log in, you need your own code, which you can pick up from the machine in Business Class.
Using a mobile phone at sea
The provider for mobile telephony on board is "Telenor Maritime (TM)".
This mobile network is satellite-based. The network becomes active as soon as the ship is at sea. If the ship is sailing close to the coast, you may be connected to a land-based mobile network. Please check with your provider in advance about roaming charges for using your mobile phone at sea. Long-distance calls are more expensive than domestic calls. To avoid further unexpected high costs, be careful when downloading eBooks, music, films, etc. It is also advisable to switch off the answering machine before you travel, as voice messages forwarded to it incur the same charges as an actual call answered.
Strollers and wheelchairs
Strollers and wheelchairs must never be parked in the corridor, otherwise the escape routes are no longer free.
Emergency exit
The emergency exits are labeled "EMERGENCY EXIT" and lead to the rescue stations. Note the position of the emergency exit signs wherever you are on board.
Emergency drills
The officers and crew are trained to fight different types of fire aboard. The regular emergency drills include training in dealing with guests in case of evacuation and guiding them to the individual collection points.
Smoke
If thick smoke is caused by a fire, hold a wet towel/cloth over your mouth and nose. Crawl across the hallway as the smoke is less dense near the ground.
Smoking zones
Smoking is allowed in specially designated places. Please inform yourself at the reception of the ships.
Smoking ban
There is a general smoking ban on board the ships. Smoking is only permitted in specially designated areas. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the cabins and restaurants. This also applies to e-cigarettes.
Guests with disabilities
Please inform the Service Center before the start of the cruise so that you can be assisted in case of an emergency situation on board. If you are traveling by car, you should be at the port as early as possible (approx. 2 hours before departure). The loading staff will do their best to let you be one of the first to board and assign you a parking space directly by the elevator. Please inform us already at the car check-in that you are using a wheelchair.

Kiel-Oslo
Wheelchair accessible facilities on Color Fantasy and Color Magic:

Boarding is possible without assistance.
9 wheelchair accessible cabins
All decks are accessible without assistance.
Bars, lounges and restaurants are wheelchair accessible.
Public disabled toilets are available.

The wheelchair-accessible cabins have extra-wide doors and no thresholds. There is space to move around the cabin with a wheelchair and the bathroom is equipped accordingly. They are equipped with 2 lower beds.

Rescue stations
In an emergency situation, the crew will guide guests to the rescue stations where lifeboats, liferafts, etc. are available. The officer in charge will direct the operations at the rescue stations. No one is allowed to board/use the lifeboats, liferafts or other rescue equipment until the explicit order to lower the rescue units/abandon the ship has been given.
Rescue drills
All officers and crew are required to attend weekly rescue exercises. They are trained and instructed in all aspects of firefighting, damage control, passenger evacuation, communications, life-saving and the use of safety equipment. Once a month, a major rescue exercise is held during which safety equipment is tested and all lifeboats and rafts are manned and launched. The firefighting team and smoke divers are trained under realistic conditions at the fire department's training ground on land. In addition, officers and most crew members are trained in first aid.
Lifejackets
The lifejackets are located in boxes and cabinets labeled "LIFEJACKETS" directly at or near the rescue stations. The life jackets must be put on, if you receive the instruction to do so. The crew will help you with the lifejacket. Lifejackets for children are also available at the rescue stations and are issued by the crew.
Safety on board
For safety reasons, the cruise line carries out regular checks on passengers, vehicles and luggage before departure. All guests are required to carry proof of identity with them (i.e. identity cards, children IDs, etc.). Violation of these guidelines can lead to denial of embarkation without reimbursement of costs.

Dangerous goods
Dangerous goods can only be taken along after consultation with Color Line.

Gas tanks
For technical safety reasons, it is necessary that the main switch for the gas supply in mobile homes, camping trailers etc. is CLOSED  before boarding and during the crossing. Access to the gas container must be unlocked and accessible at all times so that it can be removed quickly in the event of a fire. Please mark the door or valve of the gas container to confirm that it is closed.

Oxygen
For private medical use oxygen bottles up to max. 200 bar are allowed. The valves must be closed when the bottle is not in use. The bottle must be secured so that it cannot tip over. The number of bottles should be kept to a minimum. Bottles that are not in use must have a protective cap over the valves. Smoking and open flames near the bottles are prohibited. Guests who need oxygen must bring their own equipment as only limited supplies are possible on board. Please contact our service center for more information.
