Renowned artists will thrill you with their performances and ensure that Hamburg has a boisterous atmosphere. But if you prefer to have your peace, a visit to the extensive onboard library is highly recommended. Before the cruise

Medical care
MS HAMBURG has a modern ship hospital managed by an experienced ship doctor. Guests requiring medical treatment should contact the ship doctor immediately after embarkation. It is essential that you carry a sufficient quantity of any medication you need with you in your hand luggage. The cost of treatment and medication must be paid on board.
The amounts will be reimbursed by the insurance company on presentation of the invoice, provided you have taken out health insurance for travel abroad, within the framework of the existing conditions. You are therefore strongly recommend to take out international health insurance.
Before you start your cruise, please inquire to what extent or whether your international health insurance will cover the costs. Patients with chronic illnesses and/or special dietary plans are asked to inquire with the organizer in good time before the cruise what measures can be taken to ensure a carefree cruise.
Concierge
The concierge gladly advises you about individual shore and flight arrangements, organizes your personal desired program and assumes all necessary bookings. The concierge also offers comprehensive cruise advice. You can get in touch with him directly in his office (for the opening hours please refer the day program on board) respectively after his lectures.
Diet food
We are glad to fulfill special requests for diets and allergies. Please inform the cruise line of this in due time upon booking.
Foreign currency
The euro is accepted in many European countries. Outside of these countries and in non-European countries you get the change in local currency. Aboard the MS Hamburg you cannot exchange money!
Yellow fever vaccination
Currently, a yellow fever vaccination is recommended for cruises to Brazil and associated combo cruises (update June 2024)
Luggage
With your travel documents, you will receive your luggage tags: please attach these to your luggage in a clearly visible position. These tags make it possible to transport your luggage smoothly and make the work of the luggage carriers much easier. Please print your full name and cabin number in capital letters. In addition, the conclusion of a baggage insurance is recommended.
You can book a luggage service directly from your front door to the ship or airport and back directly from TEfra Travel Logistics.
Children discount
Children and young people up to and including 17 years (at the start of the cruise) travel for free during the cruise passage. This offer is valid for children and young people accompanied by two adults in the same cabin in category 6. If accompanied by only one adult, this person pays the price for the single occupation of a cabin (if occupying a cabin that is not used as a single cabin, the surcharge is at least 50% of the cruise price). In this case, the child or the young person also travels free of charge during the cruise passage. If upon arrival/departure to the cruise flights are included in the travel price, the respective price ratio for children respectively youths is specified in the cost split.
Clothes on land
For trips respectively private shore leaves you are recommended comfortable, practical clothing and solid footwear, which should be adapted to the route. Please note that many countries do not like the idea of wearing shorts respectively bermudas and that ladies should keep their shoulders covered when visiting churches and mosques.
Clothing "Antarctica"
Especially for the Zodiac rides you need the following equipment that is not available on board: non-slip, knee-high rubber boots with warm socks, rain pants/waterproof ski pants, a waterproof, warm jacket, fleece jacket or wool sweater, waterproof, warm gloves, a hat and/ or a headband (if the wind is cold), a backpack for photo equipment, binoculars, etc. so that you always have both hands free for the disembarkations, as well as sunscreen and sunglasses.You will receive more information with the information about your cruise.
  
Small children
The following minimum age applies foe the embarkation of small children aboard the HAMBURG:

Within Europe: 8 months
Worldwide (excl. Arctic, Antarctic, South Georgia and Falkland Islands): 2 years
Arctic and Antarctic, South Georgia and Falkland Islands: 6 years.
Shore excursions
You will receive the shore excursion programs for the respective cruises approx. 5 weeks before the start of the cruise and can then make advance bookings. Payment is always made via your onboard account. You can also book shore excursions on board (subject to availability). After the booking deadline, which is announced in the daily program, changes or returns are no longer possible. A briefing on all shore excursions is provided by the excursion manager at the beginning of each cruise The lecturers give you additional information about the respective destination areas with interesting lectures. Your clothing should be as comfortable as possible during the shore excursions and adapted to the respective environment. The concierge is always at your disposal for individual shore leave requests.  
Lecturers
In addition to national lectures, the cruise line offers you the opportunity to attend thematic lectures. These presentations vary from journey to journey, the topics range from astronomy to political contributions to seminars about personality formation.
Medical questionnaire "Antarctica / Falkland Islands / South Georgia"
For these cruises the cruise line requires the special and extensive, completed medical questionnaire before the start of the cruise which you will receive with the information about the cruise. Your information will of course be treated as strictly confidential and is for your own safety.International health insurance with return transport/rescue is mandatory on these cruises.
Pregnancy
For safety reasons, Plantours Cruises asks expectant mothers to present a specialists' medical certificate for travel ability. Pregnant women who have reached the 24th week of pregnancy at the start of the journey or who would reach it during the journey are excluded from traveling.
Safety instructions for flights arrivals and departures
Please note that baggage regulations and airport safety regulations may change at short notice. For further information, please refer to your travel documents. Liquids which are carried in the hand luggage must be presented separately during the safety check.
Tender / Zodiacs
In the ports where the HAMBURG does not dock on the pier, but is located on roadstead, disembarkatio takes place by tenders. Expedition inflatable boats (Zodiacs) are used in some destination areas. Please pay attention to the instructions of the tour guide and the team! You are also asked to be particularly considerate of guests with walking disabilities when boarding the boats.
Gratuities
At the end of a cruise it is common practice to reward the services of the crew and to offer the cabin stewardess and restaurant staff a gratuity. An amount of € 7,- per person per night is considered appropriate on cruise ships if your expectations have been met. The gratuity is a voluntary service and can be charged directly to your onboard account at your request, the gratuity is then divided among all crew members by the ship management.
Payments on board
The official currency is the euro. In the restaurant and the bars you pay with your ID card. At the end of the cruise (for combined cruises after each section) you will receive an invoice from the reception, which can be settled in cash, by EC card or by credit card (VISA or MASTER, credit card validity 2 months). This bill is also used to pay for shore excursions, beverages and other board expenses.
Last but not least
The minimum number of participants on each journey is 350 persons. Please note that changes to the program are possible. A deposit must be made for the booking. The amount depends on the travel price. Your payments are insured under the legal regulations of the ZURICH Insurance.

During the cruise

Medical services
The hospital is on deck 1. The office hours are announced daily in the daily program. In case of emergency the ship doctor will be notified via the reception.
Bathrobe
There is a bathrobe in the cabin for each guest.
Bar
The onboard bars offer a rich selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You will also find tobacco products here.
Library
The library is located on deck 5.
Board boutique
At the on-board boutique on deck 5, you can buy everyday items as well as perfume, gifts, jewelry and textiles. All items are VAT free. In the harbor, the boutique must remain closed for customs-technical reasons.
Bridge guided visit
Look over the shoulder of the captain and his officers on the bridge at work. Upon request, depending on the sailing area and official regulations bridge tours are offered.
Deck chairs/ bath towels
On board are sufficient deck chairs and loungers available. Please avoid reservations for hand towels.
Drones
For safety reasons, drones or other flying objects are not permitted on board.
Bikes/ northern walking sticks
A limited number of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks are available on board for shore leaves. Provided you have official permission, you can reserve these on board from the concierge for each shore excursion. There is a rental fee of €20,- per person per shore excursion for bicycles.  
Elevator
There are two elevators on board, one at the front and one at the rear of the ship. The elevator at the front can reach all decks, and the elevator at the rear can reach decks 2 - 6.
Fitness
The fitness room is located on the sun deck. Here also a heated freshwater outdoor swimming pool is available.
Photographer/ video producer
There is a professional photographer on board. He takes pictures on board and on land during the cruise which will be exhibited and which can be purchased. Burning digital images onto CD is possible for a fee. There is also a videographer on board who records the impressions of the cruise on DVD or USB stick.
Hair stylist/ cosmetics/ massage
The hairdressing salon is located on deck 1. To avoid delays, please register in time. The same applies to cosmetics and massage.
Guests with reduced mobility
The cabins 244 and 245 are equipped for guests with reduced mobility and with a bed and a sofa bed.
However, the cruises are only partly suitable for people with reduced mobility. Please contact Plantours Cruises for further advice specifying your specific needs.
Internet / sending E-Mail
You have Wi-Fi access aboard the MS HAMBURG. So you can dial into the Internet with your own laptop. Use of the Internet is fee based. An internet desk with PC is available on deck 5 in the library..
Cabin amenities
All cabins have color TV for 3 onboard video channels, 4 TV and 2 radio channels (upon availability) as well as a web camera, moreover telephone, wardrobe, shower room with toilet and hairdryer, bathrobe, air conditioning, minibar and safe. All cabins are non-smoking cabins.


Clothes on board
MS HAMBURG is a cheerful ship with a casual and cozy atmosphere. Therefore, the recommendation during the day is comfortable, sporty clothing. However, you are asked not to enter lounges and restaurants in bathing suits.In the evening, smart casual clothing is recommended at the restaurant. On each cruise there are usually two festive evening events where festive attire is requested.The onboard management will give you additional information in the daily program.
Air conditioning
The entire ship is air-conditioned. The temperature is individually adjustable in your cabin, the air conditioning cannot be turned off.
Communication
The reception of HAMBURG can be reached by phone and by E-Mail. Please keep in mind that an immediate connection cannot always be guaranteed and that costs that are associated with receiving emails are charged to the receiver on board.
Meals
You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner either at the Alsterblick Restaurant or at the Palmgarten buffet restaurant. Afternoon tea and coffee with cakes, pastries and savory snacks are served at the Palmgarten. A sausage station is open between the main meals at the Palmgarten. After the evening show, we offer you every day a little midnight snack. At the Alsterblick Restaurant there is free choice of table seat for breakfast and lunchvand your reserved table seat is available for dinner. At the buffet restaurant Palmgarten there is generally a free choice of table seats. From there you have direct access to the sun deck, i.e. in good weather you can eat outside in the sun.
Mini bar
The fee-based minibar in your cabin is replenished daily, the costs incurred are charged to the onboard account.
News
Depending on the satellite reception, you receive every day a newspaper with the most important news from all over the world.
Mail
There is the possibility to buy postcards and letters at the information desk opposite the reception which are then sent in the nearest possible port.
Smoking
Plantours Kreuzfahrten asks for your understanding that smoking is only permitted in the designated outdoor areas in front of the wine bar and at the marked zones at the pool (port side). The cruise line thus follows the national aspirations and the current legislation for the protection of non-smokers. Please note that all cabins are non-smoking cabins.
Travel guide
During the journey you will be guided by PLANTOURS cruises travel guide team. The program design on board, the organization of trips, as well as the general tourist services and support in the hands of your travel guide. The counter of PLANTOURS cruises travel guide is located on deck 3 opposite the reception desk. For the opening hours, please refer to the daily program.
Restaurant Alsterblick/ table seat reservations
Meals at the Alsterblick restaurant are served at one meal time. Breakfast and lunch are served with free choice of table. For dinner available for you is your reserved table seat. The cruise line is glad to accept your request for a seat before the start of the cruise (non-binding). If you would like special arrangements, please contact the Maître d’Hôtel. He will do his best to consider your wishes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet restaurant Palmgarten  are served with a free choice of seating.
Reception
The reception is located on deck 3. For questions or requests related to your cabin respectively the ship amenities you are gladly assisted. Lost and dound items can be left or picked up at the reception desk. The reception is continuously staffed.
Safe
In your cabin, a safe is available for free.
Sauna
On deck 1 you will find the sauna. The use of the sauna is free of charge. Please note the opening hours.
Stabilizers
The ship is equipped with a modern system of stabilizer, which reduces the rolling motion of the vessel on both sides of the vessel in rough seas.
Electricity
The voltage on board is uniformly 220 volts. For safety reasons, the use of electrical appliances, with the exception of razors is not permitted on board. There is a hair dryer in each cabin.
Daily program
Every evening you will receive the day program for the next day on your cabin, so that you are always informed about all events on board. In addition, the daily program contains important information about the port-of-call and shore excursions.
Laundry / cleaning
The ship has laundry with ironing and dry cleaning. If necessary, please contact your cabin stewardess. The costs are charged  to your onboard account.

Documents and papers

Board ID
Upon embarkation you will receive your boarding card, which serves as a means of payment on board as well as presence check after shore leaves. When leaving the ship always check out with your board ID, upon return check in again. Please always carry thid ID with you, both on board as well as on land.
Passport/ personal ID
Travelers must have a valid passport or identity card. You will find detailed information about the required travel documents on the travel pages or in your pre-contractual information. According to the regulations of some countries, the passport or identity card must be valid for 3 - 6 months beyond the travel date. The regulations always apply to German citizens. Citizens of other nationalities are asked to find out in advance. It is essential that you take the document that you presented upon booking and that is noted on your registration with you on the cruise. During the cruise, your passport or identity card remains with the purser. If necessary, it will be handed out for shore excursions. Within the EU, all children under 18 must carry a valid identity card; outside the EU, a valid passport is required. Children ID cards and entries in international passports are no longer accepted.
Travel documents
You will receive your travel documents in digital form approx. 2 weeks before the start of the cruise (postage is possible for a fee of €5,-, the booking must be made no later than 4 weeks before the start of the cruise). Please have your travel documents handy in your hand luggage. Please note that there are no paper tickets for the flights. All flights are operated by so-called electronic tickets, which means you only need your passport or ID for check-in. If a booking number is also required for the identification, you will find it in your travel documents.
Insurances
It is recommended that you take out travel cancellation insurance, luggage insurance, travel interruption insurance and international health insurance which covers return transportation , rescue costs and Corona treatment as well as quarantine and return travel costs.The latter is mandatory for the destinations  Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
Visa/ travel documents
There are currently entry regulations for various cruises which you can find in detail on the relevant travel pages. In addition, there may also be short-term official deviations. If costs for visas or other entry and exit fees are incurred, we will invoice you for these via your onboard account. Other regulations may apply to guests who are not German citizens.

Note regarding "Brazil":
The Brazilian authorities prohibit nterruptions to the cruise within Brazil (overland excursions lasting several days) with an intermediate disembarkation in a Brazilian port and later re-embarkation in another Brazilian port. Shore excursions in the individual ports are not affected by this.

Note regarding "Great Britain":
A valid passport is required for entry. The British government is gradually introducing an electronic entry registration (Electronic Travel Authorization/ETA). The exact date of entry for German nationals is not yet known. Children also need a valid passport to enter Great Britain.

Children discount:
Children and teenagers up to and including 17 years of age (at the start of the cruise) when accommodated in the same cabin of cat. 6, with at least two adults during the cruise passage travel free of charge (plus arrival / departure). Accompanied by only one adult, this person pays the price for the use of a single cabin (when using a cabin, which is not designated as a single cabin, the surcharge is at least 50% of the cruise price), the child travels during the cruise passage free of charge (plus arrival /departure). Gratuities on board of Plantours Ocean Cruises
At the end of the cruise, it is common practice to honor the service of the crew and leave a gratuity for the cabin attendants and restaurant staff.
On cruise ships, an amount of € 7, - per guest per night is recommended, provided your expectations have been met. Of course, you have the opportunity to choose this amount individually according to your discretion.
The gratuity is a voluntary service. At your request, the gratuity can be charged to your onboard account. Plantours makes sure that the gratuities are fairly divided among the service staff. For this purpose, Plantours will gladly provide you with a form by which you can authorize Plantours for the deduction. If you do not explicitly assign Plantours to do so, the responsability for granting any gratuity is yours.

Please note that the gratuity recommendation (gratuity regulation) does not automatically become part of the contract, but only after a separate confirmation by the consumer (customer). Therefore, prior to booking the voyage, the consent of the consumer (customer) is requested.
