Star Flyer - seafaring romance on a classic clipper

High up in dizzying heights you enjoy the panoramic view of the endless expanse of the deep blue ocean. You are on the lookout of the impressive sailboat Star Flyer, while a crowd of people from below greets you with appreciation. You can experience this unique adventure on a cruise with the luxurious four-masted Star Flyer of the Monegasque cruis eline Star Clippers. Let yourself be enchanted by the traditional interior, which features fine mahogany, teak paneling and polished brass.

The 115-meter-long Star Flyer has been carrying up to 170 guests since 1991, traveling in a private atmosphere with ample space. There are 70 luxurious outdoor cabins, some of which have direct access to the deck.

Before the cruise

Special celebrations
When you book your sailing cruise, please tell Star Clippers if you are going to celebrate a special day such as a birthday, anniversary or your wedding day on board.
Rescue exercises
International naval laws require rescue drills at the beginning of a cruise. All guests must participate in this compulsory and important exercise. There is no ship service during the drill. The rescue boat designated for you , the accommodation of the rescue vest, the signals at distress and fire alarm will be explained in detail on the emergency list on your cabin door. Please take a moment for these safety instructions. When the alarm sounds, pull your rescue vest and follow the instructions given by the loudspeaker. An officer takes you to your rescue boat, answers your questions and checks if your rescue vest is properly put on. Your attention during the exercise is very important for your safety.
Water landings
If the ship is offshore in the roads, the guests will be brought to land by tender boats or zodiacs - sometimes these transfers may mean water landings on the beach.

During the cruise

Captain Nemo Lounge
The thalassotherapy, health and beauty center "Captain Nemo Lounge" aboard the "Royal Clipper" is open daily from 08:00 to 20.:00  In addition to massages, face and body treatments, hydrotherapy is also offered here.
Weddings on board
Aboard the ships of Star Clippers, you can renew your vows before the captain in a solemn ceremony, provided that your wedding is not more than three months old. You must already be married before you begin your journey and present your marriage certificate. Please inform at the time of booking that you wish a wedding ceremony on board.
Identity card
When embarking, you will receive an identity card, which must be shown for all purchases on board. The cruise line asks you to carry this card with you. A final statement of your expenses will be put into your cabin on the last evening of the cruise. This amount will be charged to your credit card or you can pay it the next morning by means of traveler's checks or bar at the paymaster.
Cabins
All outside cabins are equipped with a flat screen TV, a DVD player telephone and safe. Each cabin has an extra hair dryer. Most of the beds can be converted into double beds.
A cabin steward will be at your disposal for your personal comfort and for any special requests.. For safety reasons, smoking in the cabins is not permitted.
Children
Children are welcome aboard Star Clippers. Royal Clipper, Star Clipper, Star Flyer cannot accommodate infants under 6 months on board.
You are welcome to take part in the activities on board if you are old enough and if they are appropriate for your abilities. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult on the cruise. As a third person in a cabin, children will be charged at the special rate for booking a third person.
Shore excursions
Several shore excursions are offered in the most ports of call. On the eve and every morning the ship staff will inform you about: the cruise director will then introduce the respective destinations and activities of the day.
Meals
At the onboard restaurant the meals are served with free seating and alwaya at one table time.Table reservation is not required. Long pants are recommended for men. Smoking is not allowed at the board restaurant. Aboard the Royal Clipper the cabin service is included when booking deluxe cabins.

General eating times:
6.30 - 10.30 Continental breakfast at the Piano Bar.
8.00 - 10.00 Breakfast buffet at the onboard restaurant
12.00 - 14.00 Lunch buffet on board, on deck or on the beach.
17.00 - 18.00 Hors d'oeuvres at the Tropical Bar and at the Piano Bar
19.30 - 22.00 Dinner à la carte at the onboard restaurant
23.30 - 00.30 Midnight sack.
Medical care
A qualified medical doctor or a trained nurse is either on board or can be brought aboard by ship in a short time. In addition, the ship officers are trained in first aid. If a passenger needs a hospital stay, the ship is always located near medical facilities. Passengers with long-term medical treatment should bring their medication on board in sufficient quantities. Only certain prescription drugs are available on board.
Persons who need to respect a certain medication (insulin in the case of diabetic patients, for example) are asked to carry a letter from their doctor with the following information:
- Complete name of the physician
- The medicine treated with the drug, daily dosage, the amounts necessary for the stay
-  Insurance that for health reasons passengers need their medication when traveling abroad
Smoking ban
Smoking is only allowed in parts of the Tropical Bar and on the sun deck.
Sloop Shop
The onboard shop can be found on Clipper Deck behind the restaurant. In addition to everyday things such as toothpaste or sunscreen, you also get Internet & Wi-Fi maps, souvenirs, fashion from the Star Clippers collection and many other things that are important to you.
Sport activities
A variety of sports are offered during a cruise: aerobics, windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, snorkeling, beach volleyball - all included in the cruise price (depending on weather conditions and local authorities). Star Clippers cannot take responsibility for dives. Qualified divers please contact local providers (not included.)
Power supply
The cabins aboard the Star Flyer and Star Flyer are equipped with 110-volt alternating current (American voltage - sockets for US and Euro plugs). Aboard the Royal Clipper, the cabins are equipped with 220-volt alternating current (European voltage, sockets for Euro plugs).
Telephone
Each cabin is equipped with an international direct dial telephone. The phone charges are debited from your credit card. Please note that all satellite calls are expensive. In case of emergency, please contact one of Star Clippers' local agents. Star Clippers cannot guarantee e-mail and telephone communication as well as television reception on board during an ocean crossing. Information about WI-FI on board is available at the Purser office. The billing takes place via your onboard account.
Gratuities
Gratuities on board are not included in the travel price.The amount is up to the guest to decide as a token of appreciation for good service. A gratuity of 10 euros per person per day is recommended. On the last evening of your cruise, you will find an envelope in your cabin that you can use for the gratuity. You can also pay the gratuity in cash or by credit card at the purser.
Purser's Office
The office is located on the Clipper Deck and is normally open from 08:30 - 19:30 except on the day of embarkation.
Payment options
Upon your embarkation an account will be automatically opened for you to pay all expenses incurred on board. In order to make your stay as comfortable as possible, all your expenses can be booked automatically to your credit card after printing your credit card during your cruise. American Express, MasterCard and VISA are accepted on board. For whatever type of payment you decide: you can pay your expenses at the end of the cruise with your credit card or in cash.

Gratuities on board of Star Clippers
The gratuities on board the ship are not included in the price and their amount as recognition of good services is up to the guest's decision. You can also pay the gratuity in cash or by credit card at the paymaster.
