Unforgettable cruises can be experienced with the cruise liners of the Norwegian Cruise Line, in short NCL, as this classic cruise tradition with modern cruise ships is interpreted in a modern way. One of these ships is the cruise ship Norwegian Gem, which since 2007 has been delighting its 2394 guests - with double occupancy - with wonderful cruises and offering them an unforgettable holiday. The cruise ship with  93530 gross tons, a length of 294.13 meters, a width of 32.2 meters and a draft of 8.50 meters, is powered by a diesel-electric engine. So it reaches a fast cruising speed of up to 24 knots. While the Norwegian Gem usually runs leisurely through the ocean waves, 1,070 crew members are responsible for the maintenance of the ship and the well-being of the ship's guests. As long as the Norwegian Gem sails on oceans there are up to 12 decks available for passengers aboard the enchanting cruise ship with 1,197 cabins. Physically disabled people can also board the Norwegian Gem thanks to the 27 disabled-accessible cabins. Traveling with the Norwegian Gem - that means cruising experience for everyone.

Before the cruise

Guests with limited mobility, impairment or special requests
In any case, precautions are taken to make your cruise as pleasant as possible. The information that you will receive before booking your holiday contains general information about the suitability of the holiday for people with reduced mobility. Reduced mobility is of course defined differently by different individuals and NCL fully understands that individual abilities, limitations and needs can vary significantly.
If you have mobility limitations, illnesses or disabilities that could affect your holiday, the cruise line asks that you provide details prior to booking so that they can provide you with accurate information as to the suitability of the holiday based on your specific needs. Disabled guest should be able to take care of themselves.
Guests who are unable to do so (e.g. unable to eat, dress and undress themselves or participate in safety drills) must travel with an assistant during the cruise who can provide help in the event of an emergency. Corresponding assistance on the part of NCL, its vicarious agents, employees, service providers or agents does not belong to the scope of the contractual services, unless something else has been expressly agreed in writing or arises from mandatory statutory provisionsRegulations (in particular for air travel, Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2006 as of July 5, 2006 on the rights of disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility and EU Directive 1177/2010 of November 24, 2010 on the rights of passengers during voyages) .
Any special requirements accepted by the cruise line will be expressly declared as accepted upon your confirmation.Until they have expressly accepted, the cruise line reserves the availability of any special requirements and until then these are not part of the agreed services. All ships offer a limited number of special cabins for guests with physical disabilities. There are cabins with wider doors and appropriately equipped bathrooms for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs must be brought by the guests themselves and should be small and collapsible.
If you do not wish to bring your own wheelchair on board, please contact the US service provider Scootaround to arrange for delivery. Please note that wheelchairs must be kept in your cabin only.If a ship is unable to dock, guests are brought ashore by smaller boats called tenders. Some guests with limited mobility may find it difficult to embark or disembark during berthing or while tendering.
Unfortunately, to ensure the safety of all guests, shore transfers via tender boats are not available for guests with scooters or wheelchairs. Please note that guests in wheelchairs cannot participate in some activities or programs for this and other reasons.NCL only accepts certain wheelchairs on board. All guests wishing to bring medical equipment onboard must notify NCL prior about it prior to departure. Failure to do so may result in the medical equipment not being allowed to be brought on board.
A limited number of cabins with light and vibrating alarms are available for guests with hearing or vision impairments. Guests with visual impairments are allowed to bring a registered guide dog on all ships. Before booking your cruise, please find out about the regulations of the airlines and the applicable international quarantine regulations.
NCL is happy to welcome on board guests who require oxygen. Please obtain your oxygen from the US service provider Scootaround, who is the only one allowed to deliver oxygen on board. Any physical impairment or medical condition that requires special treatment must be reported to NCL at the time of booking. In some cases, the cruise line asks that you submit special forms regarding liability and affidavits. NCL has the right to refuse participation in the cruise to any person who is objectively assessed to be in a physical or mental condition that could affect the safe operation of the cruise, pose a direct threat to the safety and health of other guests, or who need care that NCL cannot guarantee. Requests for special diets should be made at the time of booking, at least two months prior to departure. NCL provides vegetarian, kosher, gluten-free, sodium-free, and low-cholesterol meals, as well as sugar- and fat-free desserts upon request. Guests requiring insulin will find refrigerators in all cabins except the studios (category T1).

Can I connect electrical appliances in the cabin?
The voltage on board is 110 volts and also 220 volts AC.  For all European devices you need an adapter for US standard sockets. Hairdryers are provided in all cabins and suites, irons and ironing boards can be requested from your cabin steward or reception.
Online-Check-In
To ensure compliance with legal regulations, it is mandatory that each guest registers with NCL no later than three days before embarkation. If you do not register in time before departure, check-in at the port may be extended or boarding may be refused. Please note that online check-in is simply a matter of registering your data and travel documents in order to shorten the actual check-in process. NCL will not check your identification documents provided in the form and you will therefore not receive any feedback on your information. Your travel documents will only be checked by the responsible immigration authorities during your personal check-in. Please ensure that you actually have all necessary and required travel documents with you (see WHAT ENTRY AND CUSTOMS REQUIREMENTS SHOULD BE OBSERVED?)
Are vaccinations necessary?
NCL will inform you about any government-required vaccinations for entry into the destination countries your cruise as well as aboard the ships prior to booking. Vaccinations and other health requirements/recommendations are subject to change at short notice or without prior notice for each destination. Therefore, please check with your doctor, travel medicine center or other reliable source six weeks as well as just shortly before departure to ensure you are aware of the current regulations and can comply with them.
When can I go on board?
Please note that current embarkation policy requires all guests to be aboard the ship no later than two (2) hours prior to the departure time stated on their cruise document, otherwise they will not be permitted to depart. To ensure the health and safety of all guests and crew NCL is continually reviewing health and safety measures.
As a result, embarkation time notices may change and will be communicated with your eDocs for each departure, including but not limited to specific embarkation time slots or an earlier time at which all passengers must be on board.
Boarding after shore excursions:
In all ports of call you must generally be back on board no later than one hour before the ship's departure time. The exact time will be communicated to you on the ship. Here, too, there may be short-term adjustments to the regulations due to the current situation. Please note that the ship time may differ from the time of each country. It is your duty to comply with the time that applies on board. Should you miss the ship's departure, you will be responsible for all expenses necessary get back to the ship.

According to our general travel conditions, minors are all guests who have not reached the age of 18 on the day of embarkation. Young adults are guests between the ages of 18 and 20. Children fares apply to children and young people aged 2 to 17.
On cruises that include a port in the United States, Canada or China, guests under the age of 21 may only board an NCL cruise when accompanied by a person 21 or older traveling in the same or an adjacent cabin (opposite cabins are not eligible under this rule ).
On all other cruises, this rule applies to guests under the age of 18, unless they are citizens of the USA, Canada or China. Persons under the age of 18 traveling unaccompanied by an authorized parent or legal guardian are required to present the completed PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT & RELEASE FORM (available at www.ncl.com/ParentGuardianForm) upon check-in at the port, which among others also authorizes  medical treatment in case of an emergency. Failure to provide the required documents may result in denial of embarkation. In such a case, the travel price will not be reimbursed.
For cruises that include a Canadian port, persons under the age of 18 traveling with only one parent must also carry a certified letter from the non-travelling parent consenting to such voyage. Guests under the age of 21 who are married may travel together in one cabin. The prerequisite is that proof of marriage be presented upon embarkation.
Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the gym. Guests must be 18 years of age to use the thermal spa area (sauna, steam room, jacuzzi) and casino. There are also individual bars and lounges that are only accessible from the age of 18 (e.g. Spice H2O). The family pools are supervised by trained lifeguards during the opening times as advertised in the Freestyle Daily program. However, it is strongly recommended that children under the age of 12 are also supervised by a legal guardian in the pool area as the safety of all children under the age of 18 is the responsibility of the parents or accompanying adults, regardless of the presence of a lifeguard. For safety reasons, children under the age of 18 may not be left unattended on board by their parents or accompanying adults during shore excursions.

What is a guaranteed cabin?
With a guaranteed cabin (GTY) you will not receive a fixed cabin number upon booking. This will be assigned to you at the earliest after receipt of the remaining payment, but at the latest upon check-in. A guaranteed cabin guarantees you accommodation in the category you have booked (inside, outside, etc.). Neither deck, location nor specific bed arrangement is guaranteed. Changes to the allocated cabins are not possible.
What should I pack?
As far as clothing is concerned, you can dress casually or elegantly - it's your choice. This is the freedom of freestyle cruising. We are even hosting a special evening where you can dress up - or not. Take the opportunity for a photo with your family, with your partner or even with the captain.
Travel casual: the freedom of freestyle cruising You can dress casually during the day, at the buffet and at the most specialty restaurants. For women, this includes summer and leisure dresses, skirts, everyday trousers or Capri shorts, jeans and tops. For men, khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are suitable. Swimwear is accepted at the buffet and at the outdoor restaurant, but we ask that you wear a shirt or pareo and shoes.
Be sure to bring a sweater—it can get chilly with the air conditioning. Children under the age of 12 may wear nice shorts at our restaurants. Please note: we want you to be comfortable, however, men's sleeveless shirts, flip flops, baseball caps, sun visors and jeans that are excessively faded, have holes or tears or are worn below the waist are not permitted at our main restaurants and specialty restaurants.
All decked out: smart casual
We recommend smart casual attire at our more formal restaurant and at our more upscale specialty restaurants. For women, this includes long trousers or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, that means jeans or long pants with a collared shirt and closed-toe shoes. Children under the age of 12 are welcome to wear nice shorts in our restaurants. Ready for an Adventure: Shore Excursions Also, think about your shore excursions and pack appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes.
Children and adults alike are well advised to bring a pair of closed-toe shoes. You can get more information on the respective shore excursions.
Special events: Theme Nights and Parties
Our newest event, Norwegian Night Out, offers you the perfect opportunity to dress up and enjoy a great night of cocktails, great food andgreat entertainment. You will also want to pack an all-white outfit for our legendary White Hot Party.
What if I'm pregnant?
In order not to endanger your well-being, you must have completed the cruisebefore the start of the 24th week of pregnancy and be able to present a medical certificate in English stating your ability to travel and the due date. NCL is not responsible for denial of embarkation or any pregnancy complications that may occur during the cruise.
Which entry and customs regulations must be observed?
All guests are responsible for ensuring that they are in possession of all relevant documents and visas for the entire cruise including all ports of call. Travelers from EU countries and Switzerland require a biometric passport that is valid for at least six months more after the end of the cruise (also applies to children of all ages). Please note that a passport is also required for cruises within Europe. (Exception: citizens of the Schengen states can travel with a valid identity card if the booked cruise does not leave the Schengen area.)
NCL informs the traveler about the passport, visa and health regulations prior to the contract is signed as well as any changes to them before the start of the cruise. Visit www.ncl.com/entry-requirements  for more information.
The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), a system that controls travel authorization for the USA for a stay of up to 90 days, applies to all citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This stipulates that a travel authorization must be applied for via the Internet (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/) before the intended entry into the USA in accordance with the VWP. The ESTA authorizations are valid for multiple entries within two years (or a shorter period if the passport expires earlier). This regulation therefore affects German, Austrian and Swiss citizens, among others. The US authorities charge a fee of US$ 21 per person (as of November 2022) for the travel authorization, which must be paid by credit card during the authorization process. More information is available at www.cbp.gov/esta. Please be sure to print the ESTA approval page when booking a transatlantic cruise as this must be presented at check-in. All travelers including children need an electronic passport to participate in the Visa Waiver Program. An electronic passport, recognizable by the corresponding symbol, is a passport with special security features and an integrated electronic chip. Electronic passports are issued by the relevant authority and must comply with international regulations on the protection and storage of passport and holder information. Visit https://www.cbp.gov/ for more information. Travelers whose passports does not meet the above requirements must present a visa upon entry into the United States. Please make sure to apply for a multiple entry visa.
Citizens of countries that are not subject to the VWP must check the individual regulations between their countries and the United States at their country's embassies to determine whether they need to apply for a United States tourist visa. Please note that visas can take up to three months to be granted. For countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program, see https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/frequently-asked-questions-about-visa-waiver-program-vwp-and-electronic-system-travel .
Since October 15, 2016, citizens of countries that do not require a visa and who enter Canada by plane or whose flight connection includes a Canadian airport need to obtain a travel permit, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), for a fee of CAD7. The ETA is valid for five years or until the passport expires. Visit www.cic.gc.ca for more information.
Since October1, 2019, travelers who enter New Zealand must have an ETA, which can be applied for via the ETA App for NZ$9 or the Immigration New Zealand website for NZ$12 and is valid for two years.
Please note that entry and visa regulations can change at any time. The currently valid regulations can be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office/Ministry of Foreign Affairs/FDFA or the respective embassy. Your travel agency will also gladly inform you about the current visa requirements. The information given here is correct at the time of printing (November 2022). It is necessary to take a second identification document with a photo (e.g. identity card, driving licence) with you as your identification together with the boarding pass.
The Secure Flight Program of the American Transportation Security Administration (TSA) applies to international air traffic. The focus of the program is to reduce the number of misidentifications of passengers authorized to enter the USA and to increase air traffic security. As part of the Secure Flight Program, all airlines undertake to submit the following Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) of passengers arriving in and/or departing from the USA to be transmitted to the US Department of Homeland Security: full name as stated on the valid official identification document (including middle names, initials), date of birth, gender and redress number (if available). Therefore, please check the data listed on the confirmation carefully. If incorrect data appear on the confirmation, please contact our reservations department. If no customer information is available at the time of booking, NCL will use the data from the online check-in. For more information about the Secure Flight Program, visit http://www.tsa.gov/secureflight. Providing the Secure Flight data does not release you from the obligation to apply for an ESTA travel authorization or a visa if travelers are not covered by the VWP.
A visa may be required for some of the destinations  for the cruises presented on pages 30-31, 42-43 and 46-47. You can find more information on the website of the visa and passport service provider CIBTvisas (http://ncl.cibtvisas.de/), where which you can also request the visa for a fee.
Import regulations vary depending on the route booked. Please inquire about the applicable regulations. You can also find these on the websites of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany/the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria/the EDA in Switzerland, at the embassy of the respective destination country and at the relevant customs authorities.
What safety standards are there?
The ships are built according to internationally accepted standards. All ships comply with the latest SOLAS guidelines and are subject to a number of annual government safety and hygiene controls. A mandatory safety video is integrated into the online check-in process and you will find another video in your cabin on the onboard TV, which you must watch to the end before using it. You will learn how to behave in an emergency (more information can be found on the back of your cabin door). On the day of embarkation, you have to go to once your emergency collection point (sample station) and register.
All ships have stabilizers that minimize ship movements as much as possible.
How much luggage can I take?
If you arrive by plane, please inquire with the respective airline about their luggage regulations. NCL's recommended onboard baggage allowance is up to two pieces of baggage per guest, each weighing a maximum of 20kg. Please note that international agreements limit NCL's and airlines' liability for baggage damage and loss. It is therefore advisable to take out luggage insurance. All baggage should have a complete name tag. Put medicines, jewellery, fragile items, valuables, keys and important documents in your hand luggage. If you are bringing a wheelchair, check with your airline to see if any restrictions appy.
How is a good service rewarded?
It is top priority that you enjoy your cruise to the fullest and that the entire crew offers you the most excellent service standard. The cruise line would be pleased if you apporpriately acknowledge and reward the excellent service quality on board. For this reason, two gratuity programs are supported aboard the NCL ships. The crew gratuity program benefits all crew members who make your cruise a very special experience through their work. These include the staff at the restaurants, the cabin stewards and other behind-the-scenes staff. To simplify the transaction, please allow daily your onboard account to apply an international standard gratuity option for all guests as of 3 years. Depending on the ship and cabin category, the following amounts are recommended for the gratuity option per day:
US$20,- for guests in studios, inside, outside and balcony cabins and Club Balcony Suites and US$ 25,- for guests traveling in suites and The Haven Suites. You can then confirm this gratuity option, cancel or initiate any desired gratuity amount as part of the final statement of your onboard account.
In addition, some crew members provide optional services that are not made use of by all guests. Guests using such services are encouraged to appropriately reward the good service of this staff. For spa treatments (20%) and the serving of drinks (20%), a recommended gratuity is automatically added to the bill. At specialty restaurants and at mealtimes associated with entertainment a recommended service charge of 20% will be added and automatically reflected on your bill (excludes drinks and meals consumed as part of Free at Sea beverage or specialty restaurant packages). Guests accommodated in suites who use the  butler and concierge services are advised to appropriately reward the services provided.

Where do ships dock?
Generally, the NCL ships dock at the pier. In some ports, this is not possible, here the ships at anchor and offer guests a free shuttle service by tender boat.

During the cruise

Can I smoke on board?
To make your stay on board as pleasant as possible, cabins and most public areas are non-smoking.Cigarette smoking is permitted in the casino (limited to active players) or in the cigar bar (if available). You can also smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars in designated areas on the outer decks. E-cigarettes are also not allowed in areas where smoking is prohibited. Guests who smoke in the cabin or on their balcony will be charged a cleaning fee of US$ 250 charged to their onboard account. Please note that e-cigarettes are banned in some countries.
Is there a doctor on board?
Yes, there is a doctor and a nurse on board all ships. Treatments will be billed to you at standard US rates. The medical equipment on board is limited and can only guarantee basic care despite the current expansion of capacities. In the case of serious illnesses, it may be necessary to transport sick persons back at their own expense. It is therefore advisable to take out international travel health insurance.
Please note that the ships do not have a dialysis station or dental treatment options.

Can I call from the ship, can I be reached?
There is an internet café on each ship (for a fee) so you can be reached by email if needed. In addition, you can use the Wi-Fi network with your own devices in almost all areas of the ship (for a fee).
The central satellite phone number for all ships is 001.732.335.3280 (from US$7.95/minute, please have the ship name and credit card number ready). Of course you can also use your mobile phone at sea. Fares and billing are handled by your provider. For more information please contact your provider.

What is the board language?
The board language is English. Basic knowledge of the English language is therefore recommended. To make you feel at home as a German-speaking guest on NCL ships, you will be offered on all routes a German-speaking guest service on board.
What are the regulations regarding alcohol on board?
For cruises that include a port in the US, Canada or China, the minimum age for consuming alcoholic beverages is 21 years. The premium beverage package (both selected as part of Free at Sea and individually booked) includes alcoholic beverages only for guests over the age of 21 in these destinations. On all other cruises, this policy applies to guests over the age of 18, unless they are US, Canadian or Chinese citizens. For cruises sailing to a port in the US, Canada or China, guests aged between 18 and 20 are permitted to consume beer and wine on board with the written consent of a traveling parent / guardian when the vessel is in international waters (does not apply to Hawaiian and Alaska routes. The form to be filled out is available on board at the reception.
With the exception of wine and champagne, alcohol is not allowed to be brought and consumed on board . Alcoholic beverages purchased on board or on land can only be handed over to the crew for storage. The purchases will be returned to you at the end of the cruise. For wine and champagne broughtalong which is consumed on board, there is a corkage fee, which is charged to the board account.
The cruise line advocates the responsible use of alcohol and reserves the right to permanently or temporarily restrict the use of alcohol by guests who violate the Code of Conduct or who are considered by the ship management a danger to themselves and others . Continued alcohol abuse during the cruise and / or violation of NCL's alcohol policy may result in immediate disembarkation.

How does the disembarkation proceed?
If you booked your cruise without a flight arrival package, you continue with your personal travel plans after clearing customs and immigration.
If you have booked a flight arrival package, the transfer to the airport is included. When planning your individual return flight, you should take into account the clearance by customs and immigration authorities (usually about two hours) and the respective transfer time from the port to the airport If circumstances allow, you have the option of an "Easy Walk-off" during which you can simply disembark with your luggage.

Combi cruises
The onboard currency is the US $. Aboard the NCL ships, however, it is not necessary to carry cash at all times. On the day of arrival, an on-board account will be opened for you, through which all expenses will be settled cashlessly. It is recommended that you deposit a credit card (for example, VISA®, MasterCard®, or American Express®). Important: Please note that when using your credit card to open up the onboard account, a release from your bank will be obtained. Some banks hold this authorization for up to 30 days. During the cruise, the authorization amount increases with your expenses on board. This can affect the credit and cash availability of your onboard account. EC cards cannot be accepted on board unfortunately. In the event that you cannot deposit a credit card, you will be asked to pay US $ 300 per person (on 7-day cruises), US $ 150 per person (cruises up to 6 days) or US $ 450 per person (on cruises from 8 days) (subject to changes). On board you sign the bills for your personal expenses, which will then be charged to your onboard account.
Checks and currencies other than US $ cannot be accepted on board. The only exceptions are ships on routes in Europe: Here, if no credit card can be presented, advance payments in euros are possible. For a prepayment in euros of the above US $ amounts, a possible balance will be refunded in US $. An exchange in Euro is then only possible for a commission.
It is recommended that you carry smaller amounts of money in the appropriate national currency when going ashore. Travel checks and all major credit cards are accepted at most ports of call.

Documents and papers

Do I need travel insurance?
NCL's liability is limited by international agreements and general travel conditions.Guests are required to have adequate and reasonable travel insurance that covers at least all travel, cancellation, termination, medical and repatriation costs.
What are the passport and visa requirements?
It is the guests' responsibility to meet all passport and visa requirements for all countries visited on the cruise and for the arrival and departure to/from the port of arrival and departure. EU citizens need a biometric passport issued by an EU member state (this also applies to children of all ages). A passport is also required for all European cruises (exception: citizens of the Schengen countries if their cruise does not leave the EU territory).
The US Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows citizens of select countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days without having to apply for a visa. Travelers not covered by the VWP regulations must apply for a visa to travel to the United States of America. If you need a visa, please make sure to apply for a multiple-entry visa.
The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is an electronic travel authorization system that allows citizens of select VWP countries to apply for pre-authorization to travel to the United States under the VWP. ESTA requires all VWP travelers to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization online (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov) before entry to the United States by air or sea under the VWP conditions.
Countries currently participating in the VWP include the UK, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden, but not all EU member states.
The ESTA authorization is valid for multiple entries and for the next two years (or less if the passport expires before that date). Please note that the US authorities charge a fee of US$ 14 per person (update May 2019) for the travel authorization. This fee must be paid by credit card at the time of application. Additional information on VWP and ESTA can be found at www.cbp.gov/esta. For Atlantic crossings to the US, we strongly recommend our guests to print their ESTA prior to departure as it is required at check-in. You cannot board the ship without this document.
All travelers (including children) must have an e-passport to use the Visa Waiver Program. An electronic passport (also known as a biometric passport recognizable by a symbol on the front of the passport) is an even more secure ID that contains an electronic chip. Electronic passports are issued by authorized authorities and must comply with international standards for securing and storing passport and holder information. More information can be found on https://www.cbp.gov/.
Please note that immigration and visa regulations are subject to change. For current information, please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas.html or check with your travel agent and the respective embassies or consulates. The above information was correct at the time of printing. The traveler is assumed to be a citizen of a participating visa waiver country. All citizens who are not from participating visa waiver countries must inform themselves about their home country's individual arrangements with the United States of America and whether they need to apply for a special tourist visa at the US embassy in their home country. Please note that applying for a visa can take up to 3 months. To check participation of your state in the Visa Waiver Program please refer to https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/frequently-asked-questions-about-visa-waiver-program-vwp-and-electronic- system travel.
Similar to the US VWP, starting October 15, 2016, Canada will require foreign travelers flying to or through Canada to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to entry for a fee of CAD 7 per person. The eTA is valid for multiple entries within five years (or less if the passport expires during that time). Visit www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit for more information. All travelers who are not citizens of a participating VWP state are asked to clarify their individual passport and immigration/visa requirements with the help of their travel agent and the relevant embassies and consulates. Personal circumstances cannot be taken into account. We will try to inform you about applicable regulations as far as we can. Norwegian Cruise Line staff will keep your passport on most cruises. You must therefore carry a second government-issued photo ID with you at all times. It is the responsibility of the guest to have all required documents with them. Guests are not eligible for a refund if entry into a country or embarkation the ship is denied by immigration officers or Norwegian Cruise Line staff due to lack of documentation.
The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has introduced the Secure Flight program for international flights. This program aims to reduce the number of false identities of passengers authorized to travel and to improve air travel security. As part of this program, all airlines are required to submit the following Secure Flight Passenger Information (SFPD) to the US Department of Homeland Security for travelers arriving in or departing from the US: Full name as shown on the official ID (incuding middle names or initials), date of birth, gender and redress number (if available). That's why we ask all guests to check their confirmation carefully. If the confirmation contains incorrect data, please contact our reservations department. If customer information is not available at the time of booking, Norwegian Cruise Line will use online check-in information. For more information about the Secure Flight program, visit http://www.tsa.gov/secureflight. The provision of your Secure Flight Data (Passenger Data for Safe Flights - SFDP) does not relieve you of the obligation to apply for an authorization to enter the United States of America under the ESTA program or a visa if the VWP does not apply for your cruise.
A visa is required for some destinations on this cruise in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Appropiate information can be found here: CIBTvisas (http://cibtvisas.de/leisure-eu-splash). The required visas can be requested via the visa and passport service provider CIBTvisas (http://cibtvisas.de/leisure-eu-splash). If you want to explore St. Petersburg on your own, you can also apply for the appropriate visa through CIBTvisas. In addition, all cruise guests traveling to Cuba from a US port need a Cuban visa, which must be obtained prior to the cruise. Please inquire upon booking or contact CIBTvisas. In all cases, fees will apply. For cruises to Cuba, all guests also require a self-certification form certifying compliance with all cultural exchange requirements, which must be submitted to Norwegian Cruise Line at least 3 prior to departure. To access the electronic version of the certification form please refer to https://ncl.secure.force.com/CubaTravelAffidavit. Please note that guests without a completed form will be denied access to the ship. Guests must ensure they have all necessary documents and visas for the entire route including all ports of call. Customs regulations vary according to the itinerary. Please inquire about the current regulations on board, at your Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at the responsible customs authorities.

Travel documents:
Please ensure that your name is spelled correctly and completely as it appears in your passport. The names you send back to us with your travel registration are binding; changes may incur high rebooking fees. For this cruise, German citizens need a machine-readable passport that is still valid for 6 months more at the end of the cruise!
German citizens who wish to enter or travel through Canada by air must apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA) before starting their cruise. This eTA is not required for entry by land or sea.
The USA has introduced the electronic travel authorization procedure "ESTA" for all USA travelers and transit passengers for entry as of January 12, 2009. Travelers, including children regardless of age, require their own ESTA authorization. The ESTA authorization must be applied for online no later than 72 hours before the start of the cruise. The ESTA authorization is not a visa; travelers who need a visa do not need an ESTA authorization, but a visa.
Each guest is responsible for complying with the entry regulations. If the regulations are not complied with embarkation may be denied. All costs resulting from non-compliance with the entry regulations are to be borne entirely by the travel guest. It is advisable to take copies of all documents with you and keep them separate from the originals.
Citizens of other countries should inquire at their consulate.

Medication:
If you need to take medication with you, please find out about the respective import regulations for medication into the countries you plan to visit.

Insurance:
We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance and international health insurance.
Both insurance policies should also cover the subsequent costs of a Covid 19 infection before or during a cruise. We will gladly book an appropriate insurance for you.

Minimum number of participants:
The minimum number of participants for this cruise is 20 people.
